Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Hunting in the U.S With certain restrictions, that is correct. There are millions of acres (hectares) that are owned by the U.S. government and by the various state governments and a significant percentage of that land is available for hunting by the public. Guest aitchie666
Re: Hunting in the U.S What so you can just go on to public land with your rifle or bow and take a deer and no one gives a monkies
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Hunting in the U.S We have to follow all of the rules and regulations governing seasons and what types of game can be taken by what type of weapon, but generally speaking, yes. We do have a small number of people who will protest our actions based on their misguided beliefs that hunting is immoral, but they are currently an insignificant minority. Guest aitchie666
Re: Hunting in the U.S wish it was like that over here mate. its more like the majority are against hunting and land and deer stalking is well hard to come by unless you've got the dollar
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Hunting in the U.S I've followed the press reports detailing the decline and fall of England's grand hunting tradition. Very sad. I also understand that there has been a corresponding increase in property damage due to the resulting overpopulation of various species. buckee
Re: Hunting in the U.S Welcome to the Realtree forums aitchie666 . It's the same in Canada too. It's called crown land, and most of it is open for hunting, as long as you have a licence, etc and go by the game laws. Much of our Crown land is leased by large corporations for mining, logging, etc, so many times it is wise to find out who leases it and get permission. It's pretty evident because there are usually locked gates to deal with, if you need permission.

Came back once with a buddy and we bowhunted Tenn and West Va for two weeks straight. Other than that, thank goodness for 3D's and hunting movies....... Doc [/ QUOTE ] BINGO!!! Yes it could! This is why we need to elect the people in office that support our hunting and gun rights! In Pennsylvania there are many, many, and many acers of land that are open to the public!

Jeramie
Re: Hunting in the U.S Another thing you need to know is that there are different types of hunting land here. Some is Local Government owned and some is Corporation or business owned. By my home we have a place called GRDA that produces electricity for the area. They take over a lot of land and allow full access hunting. They have certain restrictions that the state may not have such as No Rifles. Its bow or shotgun only. Other public hunting areas have different restrictions on when and where you can hunt. Some are a lottery and you have to be chosen for that certain area. Regardless, if you're wanting to hunt here you can pretty easily find a place to do so state wide.
