Guest rutnroy
i'm in the process of getting a foxpro call and picked out the majority of my sounds. i want to add the woodpecker distress call, which i read works real well. my problem is i need to cut one of the coyote calls out . either the male challenge or female invite.which one would be best to keep on the call? sureshot
Re: which call to remove? I have a tape of a woodpecker and not once have I called in a thing with it, it must be the area we hunt that differs, if it was me I would keep the howlers, but different areas different calls!!I have had great luckwith howlers the last couple years, especially the challange barks and the greetign howls! jcwa
Re: which call to remove? I haven't had much luck with the woodpecker distress either. But I'm not saying it won't work for you. I never had much luck with taped coyote sounds either. I started using mouth blown howlers and I haven't used a taped coyote call since. Using a mouth blown howler works better for me because I can ajust the call to the mood of the coyote. Out of the two choices I would keep the male challenge. It will work year round. The female invite works mostly during the mating season.
