drkillemquick
Re: shotgun sighting in for my slugs I went to the manufacturers web site and got the ballistic chart for my slug. Mine if I remeber right was 1 inch high at like 28 yards was equal to zero at 100. So I sighted in first at 1 inch high at 28 yards and went from there. All you have to do is find the ballistics for the one you choose they are all a little different. Depending on make,2 3/4 or 3 or 3 1/2 etc.. too_pointer
Re: shotgun sighting in ALAN, I have had some slug guns for a long time. I would buy shells at a sporting good store. You won't save any $$ by ordering them once you pay shipping and handling. You usually have to try several different brands to find out what is the most accurate out of your gun. I wouldn't buy abunch of any certain brand till you have shot them and decided that is what you are going to use to hunt with. Sabot slugs are the most accurate most of the time and also will group better at longer distances. They usually come in boxes of 5. I have found the 2 3/4" slugs to be the most accurate over the 3 ". Federals shot real well in my 11-87. Try a few different ones to see how you like them. 25 yards is a good place to start till you get them on paper, then move back. The marking on the rear site is a reference point. You will be moving that site up or down to get the correct elevation. too_

LETMGROW
Re: shotgun sighting in I would hesitate to use Brenneke slugs in a rifled barrel unless they are sabots. Try the Winchester Supreme 2 3/4 sabots. They show great performance in my 870 and 1100's. Start at 25 yds., move to 50 then 100 to sight in. After you are sastified at 100 move back to 50 and 25 keeping in mind the yardages and point of bullet contact. A lot of people get hung up on bullseyes at 100 yards and totally forget where the bullet strikes at 25, 50 and 75 yards. This you really need to know when you are hunting, and shots are usually much less than 100 yards.
