AdvantageTimberLou
Well guys, this was in my local paper yesterday, seems the WHA is under way. Its a kill type hunt now, no darts. I still think its just a deal where Farbman (the guy behind this concept) is looking for a get rich quick scheme at hunting's expense!! As long as he fills his pocket he could care less IMHO!! http://www.mlive.com/news/bctimes/index.ssf?/base/news-8/1158765303133710.xml&coll=

MUDRUNNER
Re: WHA has started! Man,I still can't believe this is happening.Everyone involved looks rediculous, and they try and make it sound like this is something every hunter wants and is interested in. [/ QUOTE ] Your exactly right, he is getting more hate mail than positive mail. Its all about the old mighty dollar, your taking a real estate guy trying to make another quick buck!! (no pun intended) Hate the concept, have wrote Lost Arrow and a Representative, both seem to be with the idea, not sure if these guys realize the impact! wtnhunt
Re: WHA has started! Dont know what farbman thinks or isnt thinking to be honest with you Lou. Somehow he in his mind thinks this is for the good of promoting hunting and actually still has some others like Sykes on board with him. I just dont understand how they think this crap will promote hunting.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: WHA has started! William, His main deal was getting kids off the couch and in the woods because hunter numbers are down, never bought that concept. Those kids that sit on couches and just play video games will still do that, what they need is guidance in their life from their parents, siblings, or other family member. His hunting concept is not going to get kids more interested. I can see it now in a young kids eyes trying to mimic Farbmans cast of characters who have signed up, "man that buck is 150 yards away and if I can shoot him I will win the top prize!!" Deer hunting loses its morals when you put a price tag on an animal for sake of competition, whatever happen to just being out in nature and taking a deer to feed the family and just brag around the camp fire or with your buddies??!!! LifeNRA
Re: WHA has started! You know, I been thinking about this. Maybe we should just completely ignore this idea, then it might just go away! If there is no interest at all, it could very well die a quick death! In this day and age, it seems that any opposition just gives it fame.
buckee
Re: WHA has started! I agree Lou...whole-heartedly [ QUOTE ] ''I think for the most part that people are pumped to see what it is, ''I know I've been looking forward to it.'' said Dave Farbman ''Enough talking about the hype. It's time to look at the product now.'' [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, right David. We're just sitting on the edge of our seats waiting. ..LOL Yeah, enough talk about the hype, since he's the only one who's hyped ...LOL Another arrogant quote from Farbman. He's full of them. He insults my itelligents as a hunter and expects me to change my mind about him...LOL [ QUOTE ] ''For far too long, hunters have looked forward to the day when we would eventually get our own professional sports league,'' [/ QUOTE ] I see he's still quoting himself there too. [ QUOTE ] ''I think you will always have your antis that won't like it and you're going to have your traditional, traditional, traditional guys, that carved broadheads out of stone that are with you all the way,'' said Farbman [/ QUOTE ] So, what he is actually saying here is us hunters who opposed him are "ANTIs". and only traditionalists can appreciate what he is trying to do.....He still makes me choke on my coffee. buckee
Re: WHA has started! Well, I think it's a sad day for hunting and hunters, when the hunting and killing of an animal turns into nothing more than a competition among men for a pot of money. It strips away everything I have ever felt about being a hunter/gatherer and part of nature, and makes it nothing more than a money making competition. Shooting at targets is and can be a competition among men, but shooting at and killing Gods creatures is not, nor ever will be, in my eyes, a competition, with a pot of money as my reward. ODH
Re: WHA has started! well the whole entire WHA is an entire JOKE, nothing more, nothing less. and I hope it's over and finished with for good soon. I bet that Farbman guy is some city boy and has no idea what hunting is about, and especially not how to do it.
arrow32
Re: WHA has started! It makes me sick. You arent going to get a kid off the dang couch for nothing if they dont want to. And even if this did it would be just for the cash prize. This is going to make us all look bad and the people who are in it look outraguesly stupid. [/ QUOTE ] Look at all the prostaff and endorsment offers if you killl a big one consistantly on your own. Look at all the Remington Rifle adds Kirt Darner did in the 80's and 90's. Why, because he has more B&C muleys than any other person alive. Look at the adds done by Milo Hanson and Mike beatty after they killed their big ones. I have sold severl aticles to different magazines when I didn't kill a brute. it is no different. We live in a capitolist society and money makes the world go round. If people didn't pay to hunt my outfitting business would have went bust when I started 6 years ago. So what if the guy is making a few buck and some lucky hunter gets a fat pot of cash for his achievement. If you don't like it then ignore it and do your thing. It's just like watching television, if you don't like whats on turn the channel. No body is making anyone pay or participate here. It sounds like the guys in it chose to on their own free will. Why make a big deal about it. Whats next? Are you going to go to South texas and protest in front of every ranch with a high fence? Are you going to go to any number of locations in the midwest and protest the fenced elk hunts. Are you going to come to my farms and speak out against paid hunters or my management plan? Just like these other things if you don't like them then don't support them. But why do you and so many others keep bringing it up?
SaskMan
Re: WHA has started! Well said rifleman. I for one know very little about the WHA except everyone seems to be p.o'd about it, I for one could care less about it. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: WHA has started! If you two think that hunting deer in fenced reserves for the sake of competition and a pot of gold at the end of the series, the gold being $100,000, so be it. To many of us on here, that is NOT hunting!!! Don't say we didn't say this WHA is going to give hunting a black eye regardless of whatever you practice in what you believe is ethical hunting. The anti's are going to jump all over this and its not coverage we as hunters want. We all lose over this deal. It amazes me the ones who feel this won't give us a black eye. As for ignoring it rifleman, if guys didn't speak up about it and have the passion to stop it what kind of country would we live in? Go hunt your high fences if you think that is hunting, to each his own I guess, the guys with the cash will do that very practice, maybe Farbman will have guys lining up to join it next season if it indeed is a hit. As for bringing it up, if you don't like us doing so, then just ignore this thread, nobody is forcing you to read it and respond!!!!!! Guest asilvia68
Re: WHA has started! This is crazy!!! I can see it now, people get the mighty dollar sign in thier eyes and go out killing not hunting deer for practice. Dont mean to offend here but there are enough nut jobs in my state that come out just for shotgun season and have no clue what they are doing.
