RTF
They are heading back now jimt. Anywhere there is open water ducks can be seen. Just last week when we had 10 below temps and snow falling I had seen ducks flying along a major river here that open water. Most big rivers and fast running streams seem to be opening up this past week. Lakes and ponds though probably wont be open any time soon
wishinone
Re: Ducks Moving? I went by a beaver pond the other day that had a chanel of open water thru it and it was loaded with black ducks. Just down the road from where I live a guy keeps a small part of his pond open for his pet ducks, there had to be 50 or more Mallards there yesterday morning when i came home from work. lil hunter
Re: Ducks Moving? A lot of the birds are already farther north than southern Indiana. Except some of the locals. I'd like to go canoeing on Hovey lake here to see all the kinda of ducks still hangin around. theres usually a bunch of different types around this time of the year. I've seen ponds full of bluebills. I've seen a bunch of mergansers, a few blacks, everything. And this is just driving around.lol.
RTF
Re: Ducks Moving? Well if I can ever keep the temps above zero at night here in central NY, we might be able to get some open water on our ponds and lakes
