wtnhunt
With our season opening tomorrow, I just dont know if the timing could be any worse for the horses to be getting out. Where I patched up the fence with a couple of strands of wire that were laying with a downed tree, they pushed it back down. Got 30 pics of them at our mineral site and found horse crap all over in our plots. No deer pics since the last time the horses got out. The horses seem to really like the trophy rock. Went over and patched up the fence in the front in the main spot where they were coming through from the neighbors pasture into the woods. Looks like they have been getting out of the pasture and into the woods for a pretty good while, but should have them stopped now. Ironically we are watching after the horses this weekend while the neighbor is away and I will check the fence a little closer sometime over the weekend when I got more daylight. Horses around here really dont seem to like the deer, deer are not to concerned with the cows, but they dont seem to like horses. With all the activity, anyone have any ideas how long to expect it to be before deer get back to any routine usage of the plots and minerals? bowhtr1
Re: Horses-back again I just had a simular issue with mules. I check my cams this weekend and had 44 pics of 3 mules hitting my mineral site. I dont know where they came from but we have to get them out of there. My plots are just starting to come up. I even had about 8 night pictures of them. I thought they sleep at night. Can you eat a mule?

wtnhunt
Re: Horses-back again [ QUOTE ] get a mineral block and put it up by his barn.. [/ QUOTE ] He has a couple mineral blocks in the barn Martin, next to his water troughs. Did a little more work on the fence in his pasture yesterday. Think I should have them stopped from going through where they were going.

RangerClay
Re: Horses-back again That's great. Dump a big bag of apples in your food plot and the deer will be back lickity split.
