Filled Out in MN

Linked up with two of my brothers and my Dad last week in MN. Our emphasis during the hunt is more social and filling the freezer than on trophies. We took 2 days and 3 hours (about 20 miles of walking) to bag our four deer. We ended up with two small bucks and two nice does. Perfect for filling everyones freezer. I made two nice shots on does out 70 yards (+/-) with open sights. Very happy with how the T/C Blackdiamond performed again this year. Found the Powerbelt 295 gr slug in the one doe. She was standing 75 yards away took her right behind the front shoulder, however it glanced off a rib and ended up coming out just in front of the last rib on the other side. Wasn't much left of the slug which I found in the skin on the far side. She was standing perfectly sideways to me, meaning the slug had to deflect almost a foot to the left once it hit the rib.

Had to laugh when I called my 9 year old son who was still back in VA. His first question when I told him we'd been successful getting our deer was, "Dad did you save the hearts?" The boy loves eating his wild game. He's taking a heart sandwich in his lunch to school tomorrow .

What a great time was had by all. The trophies we took this year were more in the joy of hunting with my brothers and Dad as well as the retelling of old stories that we've heard numerous times before and still laughing at them.

Good hunting!
