Sad part was it happened to turn out to be a button buck,,,Thought it was a decent doe since it was with all does. Oh well, it's pretty hard to tell this late in the season. Caught em' coming out of the C.R.P field heading over to the cut corn field across the road. The first deer was a little smaller, and then two bigger sized ones, so I took the one I had the best shot angle on and squeezed er off. I was amazed to see that the deer just dropped!! It was paralyzed but still struggling, so I re-loaded and made my way to about 20 yards and put one through the lungs. Turned out that it hit a rib head on taking it completely out, and that sent the ball straight up to hit the spine. I'm pretty sure that it didn't puncture the opposite lung on the first shot. Living in Utah I get one deer per year, and if I hunt deer, usually, I can't hunt elk. This year was a little different, and the elk hunt was all open. I remember the days of growing up where getting tags was no problem. One year my dad had 2 elk and 3 deer and had to stop hunting because we filled 2 freezers full of meat.
