Re: Team 1

Boy, if things go right this year,I think we'll be the team to beat!My season starts Sunday too.I'm not sure how much I'll get to hunt early season, because my wife has a baby due in early October, but come November I'm all business!I've been scouting and have my stands hung, just have a few limbs to trim this week and I'll be ready!

Re: Team 1

This team looks tight. I'll be out bowhunting again later this week. I've been out a few times and only managed to make some bucks smarter.

These are a couple of the characters that have eluded me. I was stalking only 80 yards away from this guy, the wind was perfect and he was totally unaware when an unseen buck busted me from only 20 yards away. He has a split right brow and an inline tine on the left that aren't visible from the photo - I think he has 14 points total.

This guy I've nicknamed Osama because I figure he must crawl into a cave in the hills somewhere while I traipse around looking for him. He's disappeared on me twice after watching him seem to bed down. I think he has at least 16 points.

Re: Team 1

Hey, you can't call it cocky if you back it up. Sorry it has taken me a bit to check in. Our bow season in TN opened last saturday which was my birthday. No deer down yet, but read on for more info.

Opening morning it was suppose to storm. Me and my little brother went anyways. I hunted a saddle between a mature oak ridge and a beeding area. I think the wind was too high and just kept the deer in the bottom. My little brother hunted on the border of some thick and an oak stand. He saw nothing...well we both had a possible sighting but nothing for certain.

Anyways, the next morning he decided to hunt somewhere else. The wind was still perfect for the area he was the day before so I went in there (I had also found some rubs the day before so I figured it would be a good deal). I stoop from 6:30-7:47. Decided to sit down for half an hour and reranged some spots turned to look to my right and I see his rack and head coming from behind a tree. I try and get turned, but he clears it too quick so I freeze. Nice mature buck good mass. Just ranged the spot so I know he is only 33.5 yards away...He is heading my way, but I didnt think they would come from my right. This deer is the biggest I have seen on this property in 8 years. I would go ahead and say an P&Y buck. So long story short he looks up the trail, nails me hanging off the side of this tree, and him, the 13-14 inch wide 8 with him and a 3rd deer spook. So, now what do I do? I know he is (was)bedding in that thick...it is about 3-4 acres in size, but he has busted at this one spot so my guess is if he hasnt gone nocturnal he wont be back there again. Any advice? This is my first run in with a mature buck in early season. My little bro and I will be back out there sat morning, and I will hunt somewhere else all day friday. Thanks for any help.

Ohh yeah and the kicker, if this deer had come through the day before he would have been 15 yds broadside for my lefthanded little brother on his frist bow hunt. Also I found a 2 foot scrape right where he was after I got down that morning. This is the earliest I have ever found a regularly worked scrape.

Have a good one guys, and good luck this season.

Re: Team 1

C'mon Saskman. I haven't done anything to upset my team ... yet. If I start getting picky they might lose patience with me.

Are you trying to recruit? Is the pressure getting to your team already? If your team kicks you out, I'm sure we could make room for you here.
