Mach1
Re: Team 1 Great buck LDB. Awesome pigs as well. Nice job on the doe 8pt. HUGE weather change here in Illinois coming. High tomorrow here, 67. High on Thursday, 34 with ice/snow. I've got a 3 hour drive Thursday evening to get back home to hunt the 2nd firearm season back home. Should be a fun drive if it does what is predicted.
IowaDeerHunter
Re: Team 1 yeah I forgot to add that to. The weather change from the 50's to the 20's will have those deer a movin!!!!

IowaDeerHunter
Re: Team 1 Guys just got a call from the logger logging our neighbors timber and he said a guy has been bowhunting there seeing a 180" drop tine buck (6-8 inch drop) good news is, is that the neighbors timber is being logged this weekend so there is a good chance he is in our timber. MUDRUNNER
Re: Team 1 Congrats on the doe 8pt! Well,my weekend has been pretty crazy so far to say the least.I went up to deer camp for our second shotgun season and hunted in rain all day Thursday without ever seeing a deer.Friday morning we wake up to about a half inch of ice and 4" of snow, but about 40 mph winds and once again-no deer.I get back to camp after the mornings hunt and everybodies trucks are running and they're all loading up to hurry back home because all our houses had power outages so we had to get my generator passed around to and take care of the families. It took about an hour to get all the truck doors open and get the windshields cleaned off.We head out and my grandpa gets his truck stuck in the mud.I hook to it and practically drug it the 3/4 mile to the hard road, all the while having to get out and cut fallen branches out of the lane the whole way.All the ice left branches and limbs EVERYWHERE.It was definately a journey to get back home.We get home and take care of business and I went back up by myself this morning. It was absolutely perfect!Cold, calm, and 4" of snow is hard to beat for hunting, and I had the whole farm to myself!I did see a lot of deer finally, and end up taking another big doe at 8:30,and I'm heading back up tomorrow to try and get a buck with my muzzleloader. IowaDeerHunter
Re: Team 1 Shot two BIG does this weekend, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I think this is the second rut of Iowa as the deer were moving and bucks were chasing. I will post pictures and story in the Deer hunting room. BTW my 14 year sister shot her first deer......a 140+ inch ten pointer.
Chrud
Re: Team 1 Congrats Russell! I've got one more shot at getting some points for us this weekend. There is a state wide antlerless hunt Thursday the 7th through Sunday the 10th. Right now my plans are to hunt Friday and Saturday. With school windiing down those are the only two days I can hunt. Unless something happens and I have to cancel Friday. There isn't much fresh sign. But it was warm last week. It's gotten cooler so hopefully the hunting will be better this weekend. Just my luck, all I'll end up seeing are bucks.
MUDRUNNER
Re: Team 1 Congrats IDH! Good luck Chrud!Hope you can get a doe tagged. I didn't see a single deer Sunday morning again.Over the last few years I can count on one hand the times I've hunted this spot and not seen a single deer, and this year I've hunted this spot 8 days, and only seen deer twice!I'm not sure what's going on. I got my doe entered this morning,so that's 5 more points for the team, and I have one weekend of muzzleloader hunting and 5 weeks of bow hunting to try and bag a nice buck,so we'll see what happens. 8ptbuckpa
Re: Team 1 well it just missed hunting season but I will have a new camp to hunt out of thanks to my grandfathers purchase. It puts me dead center of the Allegheny Forest in Elk County which give public access of I think 10 miles of forest just in the immediate surrounding plus the private land that I can get a hold of. Things are looking good for the end of this season and all of next season

toddyboman
Re: Team 1 well this weekend is the gun season for does only. So hopefully I can get a doe with my gun. And maybe even a buck with my bow. With other hunters moving deer I hope to cash in on a buck!!

Mach1
Re: Team 1 My brother continued to whack em with a big 6pt this evening during the IL muzzleloader season. I'm waiting for pics to be emailed to me, but he said it's around 16-17 inches wide with roughly 11 inch G2's and some interesting looking brow tines. MUDRUNNER
Re: Team 1 That's a heck of a six pointer Mach, congrats to your brother! To many Christmas parties last weekend didn't leave any room for muzzleloader hunting. This weekend I'll probably try and hit the stand at least twice for some bowhunting, hopefully I'll see a few bucks that made it through gun season.
