Re: Team 3

Way to go superguide...Man he is a dandy...

Well folks I have been gone for the last 4 days hunting at a WMA. I saw 14 deer all together but was unable to get a shot on any of them. They were just to far out of bow range. Sunday morning I grunted a buck in from along ways off. But the deal just didn't happen for me.

The bucks here are chasing hard and I have very high hopes in tagging a brute, if everything works out...

Re: Team 3

Hey Guy...

Sorry I have not checked in a while I have been really busy at work. My bow season has been pretty good so far. I have seen a lot of bucks just have not connected with one. Saturday is the opening of gun season here in western New York so hopefully my luck will change.

Re: Team 3

Opening weekend in IN. Went Sat. morning saw a big brown dog,no deer. Went this morning had a fat six pointer about 15 yards from my stand, let him walk. Saw two small does also. There are plenty of deer in the area I am hunting so it is just a matter of time before a nice shooter comes thru. grin.gif

Re: Team 3

Took a doe last night with a M/L at 175 yards. Man I love that Knight Vision and Nikon BDC scope! She went a total of about 40 yards after the shot. I got to see my first ever, live, hind leg kick. Took the top of the heart right off. Still have my buck tag for IN. Leaving next week for SE Iowa. I've been told I'll be hunting private land owned by Tony Knight where they regularly take 170-200 inch deer. There is a 150 minimum however. I'll have a cameraman with me so if I get lucky, I'll have proof...LOL Good luck guys.

Good luck Bill. I have been off work for the past week to hunt Indiana's opening week of shotgun season. On Saturday the 18th, I shot a 210 pound 8-point buck. I don't have the digital photo's uploaded yet, and the field photo's were taken on a 35mm camera. I will have pictures up by the end of the week.

Re: Team 3

Congrats superguide and Nature Boy on both of your bucks.

I got back from Kansas Wednesday and went hunting here at home Thursday afternoon through the weekend.

I never got a shot at a shooter size buck in Kansas. I did see a 160 class 10 point chasing a doe and a 150 class 10 point with a doe while I was in Kansas. I also passed up a 140 class 9 point twice that was a 3 year old deer along with some other smaller bucks. Once I had the 140 class 9 point at only 8 yards. Every time I was in a stand during my 8 days in Kansas I saw rack bucks but didn't see any big ones close enough for a shot.

The coolest experience I had there was the 150 class 10 point. He came in from behind me with a doe and I never knew he was there until he growled about 40 yards from me. shocked.gif That will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck! I answered him with a growl and he growled right back to me but wouldn't leave his doe. He growled 3 more times as the doe took him away from me. Pretty cool experience. I growled in two other young bucks that didn't meet the criteria for what I had to hunt for on the Kansas property I was hunting.

Two of my buddies that went both had multiple shot opportunities.

I took one of my buddies to the tree where I killed the B&C deer 2 years ago for him to hang his stand. He had an encounter with another B&C class 12 point buck there but couldn't get the shot. He saw that buck twice. He blew two shot opportunities before he flat missed a big, wide 8 point that was in the 150 to 160 class. That buck shook him up real bad before and after the shot.

My other buddy missed a 160 class 13 point the 1st morning with his arrow deflecting off a limb. He had another 160 class 10 point at 12 yards the last morning but with the extra clothing he was wearing, he couldn't draw his bow. frown.gif

After Thanksgiving dinner I took off to our camp here at home with the intent to wack some does. Wouldn't you know it, I only saw 8 bucks and a fawn while in a stand. All too small for our buck criteria. Go figure. smirk.gifgrin.gif

I'm doing some catch up work right now but I'll be in the woods again this Friday. We still have about 3 more weeks before our rut cranks up here in Mississippi but we don't grow the big ones like they have in the midwest.

Re: Team 3

Hey everyone... Just thought I would check in as I have not been on in a while. I shot a doe on 11/22. However with the warm spell (70 degrees) we had here in New York last week I completely forgot to take a picture before I immediately butchered the doe. I could take a picture of the tag and post that if you all think that would be enough. Otherwise hopefully I will get a shot at another one before the end of the season.

Re: Indiana Shotgun Season!

Congrats Bill

Well I popped a 3 yr. old 8 point here in MS Saturday afternoon. I'll get a pic and the required data posted for the team when I get a little more time.

Lots of time left in the season here and our rut should start cranking up real soon down here. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to upgrade soon. wink.gif
