Re: Team 9 - Bucks Gone Wild

No luck this weekend. Had a doe come in just past legal light Friday afternoon. She was only about 20 yards away, too. Saturday morning I didn't see anything. Climbed down about 11 am and got my stand off the tree, put it on my back, took a couple steps and a deer started blowing about 100 yards down the creek. Oh well, I'm in the right place, just gotta get the timing down.

Re: Team 9 - Bucks Gone Wild

Ken and I went out for an early morning hunt today. The wind was perfect for where we were going and the deer movement was pretty good too. No big bucks though.

I had a doe and fawn come down along the bush-line and browse right in behind me. The fawn was no further than 3 feet from me and the doe was about 7 ft away. I was on the ground and they had no clue I was there at all. They were there for a good 3 or 4 minutes, until I moved a bit on purpose just to get them to move off (which they did slowly).

I saw 4 does, 3 fawns and a small yearling buck. I could have shot any of 3 does. The first 2 were on the young side, but the 3rd one that came in, was real close to getting stuck..LOL. She was at about 12 yrds, quartering away slightly, and looking in the opposite direction. I was very seriously considering taking her, when her fawn walked up and gave her a kiss. Mama turned around and kissed it back, and I changed my mind about taking her...LOL. I must be getting soft eh grin.gif

I'm pretty much thr same way here. I save my shots for bucks till after rifle season is over. Depending how we do there. Anything goes for the rest of archery season after that.

Re: Team 9 - Bucks Gone Wild

Well guys, I would have shot a doe or two already but it's just too dang hot here. I don't feel like messing with a doe right now. The good news it that is cooled off today and I'll be in the stand tomorrow evening and all weekend. Hopefully I'll put some points on the board this weekend.

I almost had a shot at a big coyote on Sunday evening but it got dark before he worked his way to me. I also had a opposum walk right under my stand just before dark.

It looks to be a good weekend. I am hopefully going to get permission to hunt some really awsome ground this weekend. I have a cousin who only shotgun hunts and I am almost positive he will let me bowhunt the property anytime I want.
