struttinhoyt
Re: Team 10 So there I was it was like 7:05 and im settin there and I lookup here comes 2 yearlings runnin right to me they stop at about 40 yards and play around then head off down another trail.... I set back down and 10 or 15 mins later I look up and there he is I reached over and took my bow off the ez hanger I won in the contest last year...... he made his way down my trail and I stuck the Ol trusty Nikon rangefinder on him 22 yards..... settled my 20 yard pin and just made my self just barly squeeze that release...... It went off and stuck him right in the broiler room...... he kicked to the hemolayins and took off he ran about 50 or 60 yards and fell over..... and yes it was pretty warm in the pic..... Canuck2
Re: Team 10 Nicely done, strut! That's a good looking buck. Still hot there, huh? That's what it was like when I got my first buck in September. Last night we had frost. Lots of exciting action this morning. First, I was watching two very nice bucks as they took the wrong trail up the hill. About 200 yards from me, they suddenly went on alert and headed back down the hill, at which point 5 coyotes came loping out of the trees. That made every deer in the country stick their ears up and start dancing. The yotes settled on the open hillside to watch for cripples and the deer started banding together and headed toward my hideout. Alas, 18 of them passed by at 60 yards and I took one really blurry picture, which included a very high racked buck. When I was about to give up and leave, this spike moseyed by at 15 yards. Now, who else had some excitement besides strut? Anybody acquire some meat?
struttinhoyt
Re: Team 10 I didnt gut the deer in the woods cause I might go give one of those yearlings a look..... and didnt feel like gettin it all in the inside of my truck so I weighed it un dressed at 152lbs which is pretty decent size for around here...... I was feelin every 152 lbs of him.... nice little 100 yard drag.....

struttinhoyt
Re: Team 10 went to a diff spot this morning was running a touch late..... ran one off that was right under my stand..... so i get up there anyways..... im settin there and a doe and two yearlings walk by at 46 yards...... I just watched them and the just eased off into the woods..... I kept hearing something behind me..... turned my head around and he one comes right to me..... this was one of the smallest deer I have seen in a while..... almost out of spots and very very small I was worried about it making it through the winter because its suposed to get pretty harsh from what I have heard..... so I figured Id do a little management at 18 yards stuck one in both lungs and top of the heart..... she ran about 20 yards and expired...... I didnt like the fact of killing one in spots but I really didnt think of the fact of a deer dying and going to waste.... some may have other thoughts on this but I thought I did the right thing..... Tom2008
Re: Team 10 Awsome job Strut! Which spot did you decided to hunt? Shot my bow some more this weekend, but got these scabs on the side of my wrist where my release rubbed off some skin so I can't shoot the bow unless I put badages over them or somethign so they dont' peel off. I got it all figured out though. All my arrows are hitting down and to the left for 10 and 20 yards. Gonna get those sighted in first before I give 30 yards a try. Canuck2
Re: Team 10 Looks like the running totals for all teams are up now - we have the early lead! Let's keep them coming, boys. I was just going to say to get out in the woods tomorrow and get yourselves some venison. But how many of you live in jurisdictions where there is no Sunday hunting? No restriction here. Tom2008
Re: Team 10 I may have found some land to hunt on here in the cities where I live! My friend has 4 acres of hardwoods that I probably for sure can hunt on. His neighbor owns 36 acres with a corn field and ravines and stuff. My friend's dad has seen a 12 pointer out there before. So this weekend we are going to ask if I can have permission to hunt there and possibly goose hunt there too!

[/ QUOTE ] When does your season start? Steve [/ QUOTE ] It started on September 16th. If you want to know how my season has gone so far check my journal. I got a new 2007 Martin Bengal last week and have been going to the range to get it sighted in before October 19th when I go up to my cabin for 4 days. Thursday evening hunt and then all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
