Re: REALTREE ANTLER ASSASSIN\'S

That is awsome Steve congrats! How is the wife doing? Does she still have a chance to hunt any? I was wondering if you checked those small points that come of the base? I don't know, but they might be an inch. I'm probably wrong though I'm sure you checked them. wink.gif Congrats again buddy thats a great buck!

Oh ok haha. I just tallied all of our points so far. As long as everyone has their measurements in for points and stuff our total is at 98 points. We still have Bowtech's Wife and TBryan that haven't submitted a deer yet. GOod job team and keep up the good work. It would be really nice if I could get a buck before bow season ends.

Holy smokepoles! Talk about leaping back into the fray - just a point (or 2?) off the lead now. Tom, if you manage to get a buck before the end of your season, we're in first. And, as Tom mentioned, we still have a couple hunters who can put us over the top as well - good luck Bowtech's Wife and TBryan.

BTH, beauty buck! Looks like he has done some serious head banging. That's a keeper right there.

We would have 1 more point if Joe(Struttinhoyt) would get that brow tine picture in! grin.gif J/K Joe no hurry. Not to put a damper on anything, but Team Double take still has an 8 point buck and a 13 or 14 buck to submit. The only reason why they aren't submitted yet is because the 2 guys think they can get a bigger one. So we'll see. Its definatley going to be close. wink.gif

Re: REALTREE ANTLER ASSASSIN\'S

I might be going out Sunday for the whole day. We'll see what happens. I'm not quite sure on where to sit yet. I'm sure I'll figure it out by then though. I took down all my portables, because I thought I wouldn't be hunting on my property for the rest of the season. Guess I was wrong. I'll just have to settle for a already made tree stand. Maybe during mid day I'll put up a quick stand for the evening.

Re: REALTREE ANTLER ASSASSIN\'S

Haven't heard from him for while, but I hope he brings a nice buck in soon. I won't get to hunt this weekend. So its looking like I might be going up the last week of bow season in Hinckley, MN. MY grandpa's property so it should be good. They have a forest of oak way back in the property. During that time of the year all snow gets dug up and all you see is leaves on top of it. I'm planning on setting up a stand back there. wink.gif

Anyone heard anything out of Hoosier? He said something about huntin hard for a buck..... If Tbryan and bowtechswife could score on does and Hoosier score on an 8 point..... we would most deffinatly be in the "chips"...... No pressure tho.....

Im going out a week from today, then i have 4 days off from work the first week on january. I better have something to score. ooo.gifmad.gif

Re: REALTREE ANTLER ASSASSIN\'S

Hey guys sorry for not being around lately. I have been checking I just haven't posted. I haven't tagged the a nice one yet, but I've been close. We have muzleloader coming in this weekend. I will be hunting next weekend hard trying to tag him.....There has been a ridiculous amount of bucks killed around our place, but only one of the big ones that I know of....So that leaves at least 4 shooters that I have seen myself. I'm trying hard guys and hopefully this will all pay off. I've never hunted this hard before....Congrats to everyone else as well...We have put some great points up and now we just need to get two more tagged and a upgrade on mine....

Re: REALTREE ANTLER ASSASSIN\'S

Hey guys......sorry i haven't gotten in here much lately...........been busy as all get out.....

My seasons are pretty much over......I had my opportunities to shoot some pretty nice deer with rifle, but opted to pass because the obviously had potential to be much better next year.......

I also passed on a big 10, that was about as big as my bow buck, but I wasn't sure on the landowner boundary line.....later on, I found out he was on land I had permission to hunt on....never saw the buck the rest of our rifle season......

Then on the final day of rifle season.....as the daylight was starting to fade, I dropped the hammer on a big 8 (could have possibly been a 9)......200 yards standing broadside shot........the buck was standing on the ledge of a creek bank.......and when I shot, it was just like you see on TV........the hind legs sprung upwards, as he collapsed into a seated position, and then he flopped over......right off the ledge and out of view.........I was so excited.........until I got over there........as I looked over the ledge, I noticed that my buck was not there.......no where......he was gone !!! I looked everywhere for sign, and all I found where several tufts of light grey hair and two small dime size pieces of meat with hair........no blood to speak off.........I was sick.........I spent until midnight that night looking for him and several hours the next morning, covering over 1 square mile radius.......nothing, nadda............I guess these things happen eventually, but I still don't understand it.......they way that buck folded, I "knew" I just hammered that deer........when actually I must have hit him near his spine but nothing vital.....must have shocked him hard, and then he quickly came to his senses ?!?!

SO my last chance to possibly contribute to our team, is if I pick up an extra doe tag which can be used during bow season.......and since we are sitting in second place as of right now, any little points will help.......

Hey....did I say we're in second place ?!??!? Way to go guys !!!! smile.gif

Re: REALTREE ANTLER ASSASSIN\'S

iminrut..I saw something like that on North American Hunter TV...The guy shot the buck with a muzzleloader and dropped him right there but about 5 seconds later he got up and ran off....No blood and no nothing. They searched for two days to no avail. They went back and looked at the shot frame by frame. The bullet hit perfectly in the shoulder and then the wierdiest thing I've ever seen happened. That buck moved his leg and that Sabot fell out of the hole that it hit in!!!!!I'm dead serious too I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it on the show. The bullet fell to the ground and the buck ran off. It's amazing what happens sometimes while hunting in the woods...

Re: REALTREE ANTLER ASSASSIN\'S

iminrut, I feel your pain.

A similar thing happened to me about - let's see - 15 years ago. Ya, 1991, and it still haunts me. Broadside, no idea I was there, 100 yards, beautiful calm morning. Biggest buck I've ever shot at and he dropped like a rock and rolled behind a little knoll. I waited 5 minutes or so to let things quieten down and hiked over to claim him - GONE!

The only sign was similar to yours. About 2 drops of blood, some hair, and several strips of meat, almost like jerky, hanging on the bushes. Looked relentlessly for him for 5 days and never found a sign that he'd ever been around. The conclusion that seems most logical is that I hit a shoulder blade and the bullet blew up, just peeling surface material off. frown.gif
