Re: Team 13

lookin good cornbread. Do you think you will have many good oppurtunity's at bigger bucks this year, or is that one about average for your area?

Bow Hunter Derek, I am a year too old to do the youth hunt thing. Bow season will be here soon though. I am not 100% sure whether or not I will go on sunday. I haven't been able to shoot my bow as much as I'd like. I will definetly go the next weekend though. good luck everybody.

Re: Team 13

Lil there are some good bucks in georgia but the are few and far between. As for opertunites only time will tell but I feel confident that I will see some pope and young bucks. I was sent a couple of pictures some buck on the farm that I'm going to hunt I Missouri and one was of a 160" class 8 pointer. And this will be my seventh trip to Pike county Illinois and I always see shooter there. The hard part is getting them into bow range or to stop when they are on a hot doe. On the trip to Missouri I'm going to help out with some doe managment, but if a mature buck walks into shooting range it time to wack away.

Wonder where everybody else on the team are hidding at? Well good luck to yall with the season starting up in just a few days. If my blackberry will work in Missiouri I will check in with yall. Later cornbread

Re: Team 13

Derek sorry to hear about your loss. I'm here in Missouri and the weather is hot. We have been laying the smack down on some does. As of mid day sundaythe group of ten has killed fifteen. I killed a 140lb doe on the first evening and a yearling saturday night. Then I shot one this morning and we followed blood for 300 yards and then it just quit in the middle of an alfalfa field,we looked for about two hours around the field and found no other sign. Well I'm going back to hunting and will check back in later. Good luck yall.

Cornbread, congrats on the deer and thanks for getting us on the board lol.

Derek, sorry to hear about your loss man but if you need anything, you have your teammates/

As for the hunting, season opened yesterday and to no real surprise it rained all morning lol. Satyed out until 9:30 a.m. before I was just soaked. Saw 4 doe and even got drawn on the cloesest one at 25 yards, but there was nowhere to slip an arrow. Went back out in the evening and saw one little buck.

Laying the smack down on them Cornbread ... way to go.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Viewing was yesterday, funeral today. 29 years old with a 3 year old daughter and wife left behind. Way too young and very sad. Cancer is a nasty thing.

I did not get to go out yesterday morning because of my kids singing in the children's choir at church. Went out yesterday evening after the viewing. I took out my 5 year old daughter with me. We sat in the ground blind. We jumped a 130" 8 pointer on the way in. He'll make a great deer next year if he can make it through the orange army of November. We had a doe come in at 15 yards, but got all spooky and left before offering me a shot. That is cool though. Way to warm and way too early for me to get excited about a doe yet.

As for a team name how about Lucky 13.

Re: Team 13

sorry i havent posted at all yet guys, not gonna lie, I totally forgot about signing up for this haha. Well I'm in south western wsiconsin and have been seeing some big bucks. Got a 150" 12 pointer on the game cam over my food plot. Went out last Saturday night and saw 5 different bucks, 3 were P&Y but too far away all coming from the same spot. Ill be putting a new stand up there this friday then letting it sit for a week or so before i hunt it. Basically waiting for the rut and late season here. Good luck team!

Re: Team 13

We are up to around 25 deer with one being a 166 7/8 main frame 11 pointer with some more kickers and stickers. I had a 125" deer bed down at 29 yards this morning and had a shot but the farm that we are on wants nothing killed under 150". It is hot and windy here. As for a name I like "lucky 13". It really don't matter to me. Good luck and I'm going back to hunting.

The Lucky #13

I went out last night. I think it is the first time I've ever deer hunted in 80+ temperatures. I did not see anything until the last few minutes. Had a doe come in and bust me. I would not have shot anyway. Too hot. The only think I'm going to shoot when it is this warm would be a wall hanger.

It is supposed to cool down in a couple days. I'll get back out then.

I probably did more harm than good last night.

Re: The Lucky #13

I made it back home safetly and the whole trip was unbeliveable. The final total was around 30 deer between 10 people. I connected with a doe on the last evening with about 5 minuets of shooting light left. My total for the trip was four shot and three recovered. When I get it pictures uploaded on the computer I will post some. As for a name I'm game for anything.

Re: The Lucky #13

Cool picture Cornbread.

I scored on a small doe this weekend. I'll post her up in the contest submission thread. She was a dink but will eat well.

Just before I shot her, I passed up a high 130's 9 pointer at less than 10 yards. He was a real nice deer, just not what I'm looking for yet.

On Sunday morning, I passed up 10 different bucks. Nothing big, all young ones. Passed up a couple does too.
