TOMSD5
Re: Team 16 ok, been out a few times...saw deer everytime i've been out ...opening day passed on 2 does -one had a really small spot with her the other was being followed up by a nice 6 point the doe came in the buck locked up at 40 yards...last wed. i shot a doe with only 15 minutes of light left...to make a long story short i choose to wait till morning to find her ...but the coyotes found her first 150 or so yards from the stand...oh well i'll be back out and trying again...we have a long season... 10acboy
Re: Team 16 Well - I just found out that I will NOT be permitted to hunt the opening morning of bow season. Both of my kids have soccer games and my wife has to be at work at 10 AM. I would go, but my hunting area is about an hour away and I would have to be home around 9:30 AM in order for my wife to get to work. I will have to wait until Monday the 9th before I can get out. HarvDog
Re: Team 16 Bummer. Sounds like several of us are struggling with opening day. I'm still trying to work out a location for Saturday.
buckbuster11
Re: Team 16 Well my season kicked off last Saturday, so far I've seen a bunch of does and passed on a 7 point. No shots on the does thus far, but their time is coming. We've got a cold front moving through tomarrow night that should make for some good hunting towards the end of the week. 10acboy
Re: Team 16 Anyone do anything? I put my stand in today vice tomorrow. I took my oldest boy squirrel hunting and ended up watching 3 does for awhile. One came about 25 yards from us, my son couldn't believe what he was seeing - plus he shot two squirrels! After I saw those deer, I ran back to my truck and got my stand. I placed it about 20 yards from a major crossing over a barbed wire fence. We'll see how it goes Monday. buckbuster11
Re: Team 16 I hit a doe on Friday night, tracked her until after 10 pm and then a couple hours on Saturday morning with no luck. I only got about 8 inches of penetration so I am thinking I hit her low on the shoulder around the joint/elbow on the leg. Lost the blood trail after about 1/2 mile. I am thinking she is probably going to live, at least I hope so. After that I really wasnt in the mood to do any hunting the rest of the weekend so I stayed out of the woods. I might try to get back after tomarrow night.
iabow
Re: Team 16 Well had a real good night tonight. Saw a total of 10 deer, 2 nice bucks and a smaller 7 the rest were slickheads. It was my first time seeing a buck sparring match, that was cool. Passed on the 7 and slickheads. With this cold front moving(snow ) in here, they were coming out of the corn and into the thick stuff. The bucks were actually checking out the does alittle, that was surprising. The funny part was I was sitting in my truck outside the timber in th rain. I was thinking of maybe just heading back home, when I look over and next to the truck was that 7 looking through the window at me, as I was listening to the radio. Then he eats his way into the timber, that answered my question real quick.
10acboy
Re: Team 16 That sounds pretty promising. I went a little on Monday and I am going to try to head our for a couple of hours Saturday morning. On Monday I didn't see a thing except about 50 squirrels! Hopefully Saturday will be better. iabow
Re: Team 16 LOL that's something 29 degrees with a 15-20 mph wind here. Well passed on a couple more does and a couple smaller bucks. That 7 point is surely asking for it, 5 yds from my tree broadside, still and didn't have a clue I was there. The next doe that walks by, I'm hopeing to take. Good Hunting you guys.
