Re: Team 16

ok, been out a few times...saw deer everytime i've been out ...opening day passed on 2 does -one had a really small spot with her the other was being followed up by a nice 6 point the doe came in the buck locked up at 40 yards...last wed. i shot a doe with only 15 minutes of light left...to make a long story short i choose to wait till morning to find her ...but the coyotes found her first 150 or so yards from the stand...oh well i'll be back out and trying again...we have a long season...

Re: Team 16

Well - I just found out that I will NOT be permitted to hunt the opening morning of bow season. Both of my kids have soccer games and my wife has to be at work at 10 AM. I would go, but my hunting area is about an hour away and I would have to be home around 9:30 AM in order for my wife to get to work. I will have to wait until Monday the 9th before I can get out. frown.gif

Re: Team 16

Anyone do anything? I put my stand in today vice tomorrow. I took my oldest boy squirrel hunting and ended up watching 3 does for awhile. One came about 25 yards from us, my son couldn't believe what he was seeing - plus he shot two squirrels! grin.gif After I saw those deer, I ran back to my truck and got my stand. I placed it about 20 yards from a major crossing over a barbed wire fence. We'll see how it goes Monday.

Re: Team 16

I hit a doe on Friday night, tracked her until after 10 pm and then a couple hours on Saturday morning with no luck. I only got about 8 inches of penetration so I am thinking I hit her low on the shoulder around the joint/elbow on the leg. Lost the blood trail after about 1/2 mile. I am thinking she is probably going to live, at least I hope so.

After that I really wasnt in the mood to do any hunting the rest of the weekend so I stayed out of the woods. I might try to get back after tomarrow night.

Re: Team 16

Well had a real good night tonight. Saw a total of 10 deer, 2 nice bucks and a smaller 7 the rest were slickheads.

It was my first time seeing a buck sparring match, that was cool. Passed on the 7 and slickheads.

With this cold front moving(snow shocked.gif) in here, they were coming out of the corn and into the thick stuff. The bucks were actually checking out the does alittle, that was surprising.

The funny part was I was sitting in my truck outside the timber in th rain. I was thinking of maybe just heading back home, when I look over and next to the truck was that 7 looking through the window at me, as I was listening to the radio. Then he eats his way into the timber, that answered my question real quick.

LOL that's something grin.gif

29 degrees with a 15-20 mph wind here. Well passed on a couple more does and a couple smaller bucks. That 7 point is surely asking for it, 5 yds from my tree broadside, still and didn't have a clue I was there. The next doe that walks by, I'm hopeing to take. Good Hunting you guys.
