Re: Team 20

Come on Ed...I want to see some points added to our total. Pics!!!! I went out today with Saskman to my stand in the bush fully expecting to cut my tag (and his) on a good buck. Unfortunately, the deer had other plans as we only saw a dozen deer between the two of us. I've been having a problem with the moose cleaning out my bales so when we arrived the pile was depleted. Oh well, have to start feeding double rations to get the big boys interested again! Until next Saturday, good hunting!

Re: Team 20

I havent posted my new pics yet, I have a heck of a time posting them! I did however send them to my buddy swamphunter1968. He will post them for me. The nineth point barely makes it, but I took a pic next to the ruler to show it did. Not as heavy as last years, but 170 lbs is good for me. How much meat should I have gotten off of him (about)? I ended up with 71 lbs of meat total. Is that ok?

Re: Team 20

Nice buck BD!!! Congrats!!!

Things have been slow here in Iowa this season. I have not seen any shooter bucks this year while on stand (archery). Sat, night I had 7 buck under my tree (6 at one time) and not one was a shooter. Biggest was an 8 point with a 17 inch spread (no mass or height).

Anyway Sun. morning this nice doe came by and it was time to fill the freezer. I will hunt the last day of bow season (this Friday) and maybe get lucky.

Gun season starts in Iowa this Sat (dec. 2) and I have a land owners permit so we will see what developes

Good luck to all & God bless

Re: Team 20

I have a doe I need to get entered for points.

Opening weekend of rifle season I had two opportunities at nice bucks. Saturday a nice buck came out and I tried to get my daughter to shoot it but she was having trouble finding it in the scope and it took off before either of us could get a shot.

Sunday I had a big buck walk out at about 175 yards (normally a chip shot) and somehow I totally missed him. I shot a small doe last year at the same distance and hit right where I was aiming. I think I just got nervous and pulled the shot low. I haven't seen that buck since then.

There is another big buck around that has half his rack busted off or it just didn't grow that half.

I still have until this weekend to get a buck with my blackpowder or I'll have to do it with my bow.

Oh and the land we hunt on started being logged in bow season and has been ever since. It has really messed up the hunting. Now the landowner is letting people come in to cut firewood to get rid of some of the treetops and that isn't helping either. Hopefully next year will be good though.

Re: Team 20

I got my doe entered for points so at least I got five so far. I think I still have a fair chance of getting a buck. I know where at least one big one is running around still.

Oh I forgot to mention how big the buck I missed was. I thought he was about 150-160" (10 point I think) but my brother got a better look at him earlier that morning and he said he was bigger than that even. Oh well. Just hoping he's still running around. I might get another chance at him this year or next.

Re: 20 - Andrea\'s Boys

Only 6 more hunting days until the season is over. That being said my confidence is definately waning. I had a great feeling at the beginning of November that I would shoot a hog at my stand but so far it's been a bust. I've seen lots of bucks, got a bunch of pictures of good bucks, past on a couple that I'm starting to regret...oh well, that's hunting! Crazy how time flies when you're having fun. grin.gif
