Re: DREAM CHASERS

I shot a big doe Sunday night, at 4 yards. She bled for about 200 yards, and went through 2 creeks. The second creek got the best of me, and I ended up losing her! As far as I can tell, I definitely got a lung, but also found some darker blood, which probably means I clipped the liver too. She barely made it onto private land, but I followed her right on the edge of it.

After` the second creek, there was no blood to be found, and the ground was too hard for tracking anymore. I gave in at 11:15 p.m, and it rained, and was warm. The yotes had a good meal, I guess. Not a good feeling, and the freezer is getting empty.

Re: DREAM CHASERS

Congrats on the spike Mirage!!!!

I stuck a 7 point last friday evening but I hit him high in the shoulder. We gave him 3 hrs before trying to pick up a blood trail and didn't find much of one so we waited till the next morning to persue him further. After a long 3 hours we never found him. The blood was a speck every few feet and then nothing after about 40 yards. we searched everywhere and no luck.

My son and I were very sick that we didn't find him but we gave it our all. Personally I think he may be still alive. I haven't smelt him, and we've had wind out of every direction, and haven't seen any buzzards in the area. We will be hunting the food plot I shot him at for the first time since then in the morning.

I later shot my bow and found out my peep had moved up and was shooting about 3 inches high at 20yrds, and adding that he was only 15 yards away and I didn't take that in consideration when picking the spot, I figure that was enough to create the bad shot placement. My bow is now, again dead on and I have promised myself to concentrate harder on makeing a good shot.

Didn't see anything this morning. We'll be heading out again in the morning!!!!

Good luck to all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Them does better stay out of bow range!!!!! We're getting hungry!!!!!! wink.gif

I shot another spike last saturday and had the unfortanate ending could not find him anywhere. The rain washed away any sign. I looked the farm over good. I found him 5 days later from the smell!

The buzzards and coyotees ate good. I am letting the deer sit and will return after nature has taken what it wants and i will keep the skull. Wish I could have found him earlier.

My week in maryland was long it rained alot and didnt see alot of deer until the last two days, My dad shot a nice 8 pointer but we couldnt find any blood we found the arrow but no blood on the ground i think he hit the shoulder bone. I shot the spike in the picyure that day 30 yard shot in a cut corn field

I watched it go down about 80 yards from where I shot him. I thought he was a big doe but when i got up to him it was a big spike he weighed about 125 field dressed. I missed a nice 6 pointer sat. Not sure what happend there. I had 15 deer out in front of me still a great day! I think the cold front had them moving. I also shot a fat ground hog. Great trip for me although I didnt take a monster I still had a great time.

I am going back in november for another try laugh.gif
