Re: Team 25

Well Friday I got off at 4 and I knew it was a little late to hit the woods but what the hay.........nothing to loose. My normal stands I can't get to right now cause the lake rose over 3 feet in 3 days. I set my sights on a little area I had been patterning 6 does in nd the wind was out ot the east absolutely perfect. Got out of the truck and realized by scent killer was at home so I knew I would have to play the wind just right. Snuck in being as quiet as possible and about 150 yards into the woods 3 does jumped and took off running. A little 65 lb doe ran 15 yards from me and stopped 30 yards out and I could have ended the hunt early but I already got a little one. So I let them wonder off and found the closest tree big enough to use my Viper in. Got up to about a whole 12 foot and said well this will have to work. I got set cause I knew the does never saw me and the wind was in my face the whole time. About an hour later I hit the can a few times and a few minutes later I heard something. Behind me......... blush.gif Wouldn't ya know it Mrs. Dilla came for a visit. I sittin there watching her and I hear something pass me full speed about 40 yards out. I saw the rear of one of the little one I could have shot. 15 seconds later here they come. 2 big ole does.........One goes right of the tree and one goes left. Big one went left. There was a small opening right after a cedar tree that I had been thinking to myself the whole time I was gonna shoot a deer there. It was a 21 yard shot.............and here she comes on a string right to that spot. Maaaaaannnnnnnttttttt...................................THWACK. She kicks out hard and runs with her last breath. That Muzzy did it's job though. After 30 yards she slows, wobbles, and.............................BABY SHE'S DOWN. Meanwhile the other doe was never spooked. She walked around there for 20 minutes. Funny thing was when I mannnnnt at her she looked around on the ground. Normally they look right up at you. None the less.................bowkill #2 in the books and she was a fat girl...............98 lbs. That is a big doe in our area.

Re: 25 - Backstrap Brothers

had three close calls last week. a nice 8 point got in close and my arrow scared it away when it hit my riser. then i was on my way to my stand at 4 in the afternoon and 2 doe went running right by me and a buck was following them. he stopped at 20 yards when he saw me draw, but he was facing me so i didnt shoot. then on sat evening i had different 8 point come in, but he was about 40 yards away as he passed by. i thought about shooting him but i have a set limit of 35 yards so i tried to bring him in with the grunt call but all it did was stop him and make him look around, then he continued on his way. feeling good about the next few weeks tho! good luck everyone
