Exturkinator
Any of yall use synthetic blend motor oil? Is there any benefit to switching over?
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Synthetic blend motor oil never have, I have stuff with Valvoline 5w30 in my '99 Pontiac Grand Prix, 145,000 miles and still running strong (knock on wood) Its my commute to work car, bought it new and never had an issue with the engine. Some guys swear buy it, some like it and think they can go longer on oil changes.
wtnhunt
Re: Synthetic blend motor oil Never have either, just use regular motor oil in the trucks and change every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first.
HarvDog
Re: Synthetic blend motor oil I use Mobil One in my Explorer but haven't switch my Ram over yet (since I get free oil changes every 3k miles).
OJR
Re: Synthetic blend motor oil I use Quaker State 4X4 in both my car and truck! I have used it in my other vehicles also and never have had any problem with them. I get rid of my vehicles when they hit 100,000 miles! Shaun_300
Re: Synthetic blend motor oil I just run regular motor oil in my car. Yes there is a benifit to using synthetic. The difference is that regular oil is from the ground and synthetic is made in a lab. Synthetic oil has a sticky substance to it, therefore it sticks and stays on the engine bearings when the vehicle is off. Regular motor oil does not have that substance, so it runs off the bearings. So on initial start up there is no oil going to the bearings for a split second. This is why you'll hear a slight knock just for a second when you fire it up Until oil pressure is built up. rifleman25
Re: Synthetic blend motor oil I use regaular valvoline except in the winter I use a straight synthetic. I park outside and synthetic seems to move a litle better than the regular stuff when it's 25 degrees below zero.
