RangerClay
My school just gave me a new CPU and now I have the big black strip on the right side of my monitor. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? Ranger
hunterfisherman
Re: I have it now You may just need to adjust the monitor. There should be a button on the front of the monitor. Push it and you will get a menu. Try using this first
buffett1
Re: I have it now If you can't fix it with the menu button, ask the tech person at school to look at it.

Jeramie
Re: I have it now Nope, its not the monitor. The resolution on your screen is set very high. Right click on the desktop and go to Properties, go to settings tab, change the resolution. Im sure its set to 1280 x 1024. Lower that and the black strip will go away. The only problem is that the picture will be poor. Especially due to the fact that newer computers and monitors are basically setup to run that resolution. KenW
Re: I have it now The only way I've found to get rid of that black bar is use a lower screen resolution 800 X 600 gets rid of it. Iprefer 1024 X768 and so i just live with the black bar

KenW
Re: I have it now Another way to get rid of the black bar is use Internet explorer 7 it gives you the option to zoom pages. When i have it set to 125% i end up with about a quarter inch black bar instead of the usual three inch bar

Jeramie
Re: I have it now [ QUOTE ] I've had it so long, I don't even notice it now. [/ QUOTE ] Me too and its not worth the trade off. Our tech team ordered me a 19" widescreen (dell). Its one of the flat monitors about 1" deep. They turned the resolution way up to match the monitor. I hated it for a while but they made me run it like that for a week. Then on Friday I went back to poor resolution. I couldnt look at it anymore. It was like daylight and dark. Now Im stuck with the black bar but really dont notice it anymore....
RangerClay
Re: I have it now I had to make the change. The font was so small it hurt my eyes. This new resolution is not much different than what I had before.

wtnhunt
Re: I have it now Have the black strip too, is nice when you view pics being able to see the full screen most of the time can see all the text too, instead of having to scroll to the side.
