Guest Xen
well, my parents came through with exactly what i was hoping for - a new field gun that i could take out into that marsh - it's a stoeger 2000 (wish i knew more about the gun, i'll be researching it today) but it looks pretty well built - they brag about using the benelli action/ejection system, so i'll have to go shoot it and see how it does

Guest Xen
Re: birthday present thanks guys - the gun was only $350, it came with 5 chokes (skeet/cylinder, improved cylinder, modified, full, and an extra full extended turkey choke), and it will shoot 3" shells. the salesman at sportsman's warehouse said the gun was "manufactured" by Benelli, i think he was just confused by the fact that it uses the benelli inertia driven system. i did notice that they had some field and slug barrel combos. they talk about a three-shot 100 yd. group that was achieved from a bench rest, using federal vital-shok ammo with 3/4 oz. barnes expander slugs I have been reading the forums from stoeger, or trying to at least - apparently cutomer service is handled by benelli, some people never have problems, some have misfeeds and misfires. some people are having problems with some types of ammo... really i think i'm just gonna have to go shoot about 200 rounds through it and see what happens
