Guest Xen
wife got me a new hogue stock for my ruger 10/22 - i think it looks and feels better, but i'll make the deciding vote after i shoot it this weekend. on a side note - i've had the gun for 18 years and noticed that the patterning kept getting a little worse. at first i was chalking it up to my eyes going bad, but after i replaced the stock, i'm not so sure... the lug that holds the barrel into the receiver was loose - now i've heard on some guns that the tightness of the screws can change how the gun patterns, is this true? if i tighten everything down to a standard tight, is it really going to make the gun have a worse pattern than if certain screws were loose and certain screws were tight? thanks in advance for the input
too_pointer
Re: new hogue stock Xen, is your barrel floated o.k. ? I take a dollar bill and slide it down between the barrel and the stock. If it won't slide, I adjust my stock screws some till it does. I have a Rem. 597 semi, and floating the barrel has helped abunch for accuracy. too_
Guest Xen
Re: new hogue stock well, originally, it had the little metal ring around the end of the forearm that held the barrel down - in this houge stock, it does float. i'm planning on shooting it this weekend, so i'll let you know how it goes
