Guest MattA311
I plan on using G5 Montecs this year for the first time. I have not test shot them yet. Has anyone used them?... and if so what has your luck with them been? I have heard they are somewhat noisey?
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? They fly like a fieldtip, they did for me but my bow has been tuned recently. They do whistle downrange some but not enough to spook a deer. I am impressed with them. I like the one piece concept. They are easy to re-sharpen too. If you contact G5 they will send you a FREE dvd on how to do it. That is an impressive DVD with Tekan II mechanical heads on it and 3 hunts. Email them and request a copy. I shoot the practice Pre-Season Montec and then tried a hunting head, they are dead on for me. You will like them, I do!! Guest MattA311
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? Yeah I tried sharpening them with my broadhead sharpener and they do sharpen easily. I am getting my bow tuned soon.. although i'm not sure it even needs it. Every broadhead out of the box that I have put through it has flown perfectly. It must be my shakey hunter drop away rest... that thing is awesome. I have never needed to change it or re-adjust it in 3 years. Aarows are always dead on. Bow is an 03 Hoyt Cybertec. Still shoots just like new. VtBowhunter
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? You can't go wrong with anything from G5. The Montec and Tekan will kill quickly and both fly exactly like a field point.

JJL
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? Make sure they're sharp............just you would with any broadhead. Buy three to practice with.............buy three to hunt with. They are an incredible product. JJL
123 4/8 P&Y
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? I'm going to rain on this parade. I shot a coyote through both of its front shoulders with a G5. The arrow penetrated all the way through, and the coyote broke the arrow off after 5 yards and disappeared into a nearby cornfield forever. I looked and looked, no blood, no coyote. I lost a $10 Montec and a $10 arrow to that mangey mutt!

DowninWhiteys
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? This is the first season I've use the Montecs. Haven't been out in the woods yet to see how they'll do on game, but in practice sessions, I get good arrow flight and feel they're a good choice. Get the sharpener too, if you haven't already. It does a good job getting the blades up to snuff.

See: http://www.rescuecritters.com/8705.jpg Anyway, I felt like the shot I put on that coyote was definately a kill shot. In fact I'm sure it was, just not a quick enough kill. It looks like a low shot wouldn't be any good on a dog either. The heart and lungs sit high and forward, BETWEEN THE SHOULDERS.
buckee
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? I've been using the Montec G5's for 3 years now. I love em. Buy the Montec sharpening stone too, it's a great investment.
Strut10
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? There were two holes in this deer.......both shaped like a Montec. Use with confidence that they will hit where you aim them.
Pinwheel5
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? Love em. One of the most popular at the shop. If your bow is tuned properly you will have no trouble. Only time I was hitting differently than my field points was my fault, nocking point to high. buffett1
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? I was at the pro shop today and the guy tried to sell me on these over the Muzzy 3 blade. Is there an advantage to having a 1 piece broadhead over the ones you put blades into? Guest ILBrad
Re: Experience with Montec broadheads? I have to concur, I have had them for three years and really cant imagine switching to anything else, they are awesome. You will be SHOCKED the first time you switch to them from your field points to see how dead-on accurate they are.
