bigbuckkilla89
One thing i always hear people talkin about is scent. People havin trouble with deer smellin em in the stand or catchin the scent on the trail where they walked in the woods. I always spray down with scent away b4 enterin the woods but 1 thing i always do is spray coon urine on my boots all around em especially on the bottom b4 walkin in the woods and ive had deer walk up the same trail i came in on and never smell me. Ive even had a few bobcats walk across the path i came in on and never smell me. I kno it works for me and i was wonderin if any1 else did this and if you dont and your havin trouble with deer smellin ya maybe u could try it. magnatecsteve
Re: Anybody Use Coon Urine? I used to use coon urine on my boots as well, but in the area that I live there are alot of guys that coon hunt. I have had stray coon dogs come across my scent trail before and follow it to my tree and "tree" me Since that happened, I haven't used coon urine since. BowJoe
Re: Anybody Use Coon Urine? Here's my theory. What do the deer think if you hunt in an area where lots of other hunters are using coon pee? OMG...what the heck happened to the coons to make them whiz themselves all at the same time. I just go as scentless as possible and leave it at that. I have had less deer spook if they just can't smell me at all.
bulldawg
Re: Anybody Use Coon Urine? Last year I tried coon urine for the first time. I had a big doe come in, and she stayed at 10 yards, checking the wind out. There was a slight thermal working against me. Curiosity got to her after a bit, and she walked right to the base of the tree, sheepishly. Then she'd run around the tree in front of me, and stop quickly and check the wind.. After doing that about 4 times, she went and joined up with 2 other pretty big does. They all started coming in, and she ran up to within 10 yards again, and as she turned to look at the 2 others, I bought my bow 1/2 way up. Then she turned quick, and started sniffin again. I never did get the bow pulled back all the way. The three trotted off towards a buck, and none of them came back in. Red fox pee seems to work better for me...lol.
