woodsman2230
Hey guys, my grandfather went and did a little scouting for me today because i was in class and he found some apple trees with quite a few apples on them. he said that he didnt see a whole lot of sign, one definate trail but no rubs or anything. I dont know if any of the apples have started dropping yet or not. Do you think I should set up by these trees in the early season or try to find another spot? Thanks for your input. Good Luck This season!

WIDeer4Life
Re: Apple Trees what kind of cover is around these apple trees? is it pretty open or thick? We have like 10 apple trees in our yard and the deer hit them hard when winter comes..i go out there and can see them eating with the moonlight on the snow at night...its pretty awesome

wtnhunt
Re: Apple Trees Apples, pears, persimmons, pretty well any type of fruit trees can be a good place to setup if the fruit is falling and the deer know it is there. If the deer still have abundant food sources elsewhere like in ag crops, they may have just not found the fruits yet, but they will. Might be best off to do more scouting and see what other options you have if the apples are not falling yet.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Apple Trees deer love apples that is for sure, there are some trees on the land I hunt on and you seldom seem apples on the ground and at heights they can reach, they love them who doesn't love an apple? fenderhunt4
Re: Apple Trees i always find it best to hunt apples trees when they are in the middle of dropping. i like when half have fallen and deer and eating them and they keep coming back knowing that more will fall. toddyboman
Re: Apple Trees when the apples start dropping I would hunt it that time for sure. VTbowman
Re: Apple Trees I set up over 2 apple trees that have a defined trail coming out of the woods and right between them. They are right on the edge of a field end. I set my trail cam up to see whats using the trail and had 113 pics of deer in 3 days. Our trees are dropping, but deer also like the leaves off apple trees as well. I did have several buck on the trail cam too BTW. This is my spot opening day now.
