Gator
Let's say I break into your house? A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV............. " Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house). According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for well, you know. And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me. Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?!

Newarcher
Re: Another view on Illegal Immigration Well, what'e even worse is that when you go to your police and elected officials, they refuse to do anything about it. Why? Well, the police because they are overrun with them. The politicians because they think the squatters will vote for them. New

rifleman25
Re: Another view on Illegal Immigration Great post gator. We need to do something. My Grandparents were imigrants, but they did it the right way. Since they have died I hold very close to me their certificates from Ellis Island Ny when they got off the boat in 1944. There is a right and wrong way to do everything and these dinks need to learn it. I think they should be deported to Afganistan or something though when they do get cought. maybe they will realize how good they have id in Mexico and Cuba or where ever
hunterfisherman
Re: Another view on Illegal Immigration If you go about it legally then Welcome to this country. If you do it illegally then you should go to jail and be removed from this country. If I commit a crime I must pay for it. I don't get extra benefits and such. We are loosing our identity. Shaun_300
Re: Another view on Illegal Immigration Sure is true Jason, even though I live in Canada, I know your situation. Pretty much the same up here except it's Oriental, middle easterns and pretty much every other nationality in the world trying to come live here and expect us to live by their standards. I don't think so people, this is Canada and the United States, if you want to live here, abide by OUR rules and ways of living. I bet if one of us went to live over in a middle eastern country, we'd have turbans slapped on our heads the second we walked in the country and ordered to grow a two foot beard or we'd be shot to death. The cities are the worst up here. Drive in downtown Ottawa or Toronto, every second car has immigrants in it, and 90% of city taxi drivers have turbans on their heads. Don't get me wrong here folks, I'm not prejudice in any way, I just think that if immigrants want to live in our countries, they should live exactly how we live and have no special exceptions to stuff. Period.

jbeck
Re: Another view on Illegal Immigration I must agree, but let me play devils advocate for a minute. If the economies where reversed, how many of us as fathers and husbands wouldn't do whatever it takes to get our families out of here. Now I know that they're giving way to much to illegals, but I don't know if I would be above breaking the law to get my kids to a better life. I believe we need to get our elected officials to wise up and quit giving our money away. But I welcome anyone that needs a home. I just wonder if we aren't upset with the wrong group here. Maybe we need to clean house in Washington so you don't get a free hand out, but if you go through proper channels we welcome you.Just thinking out loud.
