Re: How do you aim ?

i aim by concentrating on the spot i want to hit and then let the shot happen. but there are times in deer hunting that we need the shot to happen right now.

i find if i punch the trigger to make the shot happen i shoot right about 3 inches.

do you know what happens to your shot if you punch the trigger?

Shoot Strong

Re: How do you aim ?

I'm not sure that I am on this list. Maybe choice #4.

I am not able to hold on a point like some individuals. I am just plain unsteady.

I pick my point and let the pin "float to that point" and then squeeze the release. To do this I have a release that 1: is very sensitive and 2: has a very, very short release distance.

Seems to work for me.

Good luck to all & God bless

Re: How do you aim ?

I'm a puncher by nature. So I know where my shot will hit if I punch the trigger...pretty close to where I want it to.

But as far as where my arrow hits compared to where I wanted it to when aiming at a live deer?? I really have no way of knowing for sure. Most of the times the yardages aren't exact and there are too many variables that I can't control, like the deer and my instability..grin.gif

Re: How do you aim ?

i picked #4..not really sure if what i do falls into that catagory....i start off with the pin above where i want to hit...then sort of let the pin float down and when i get to my spot, i squeeze the trigger...and i make sure to hold my bow up until the arrow hits its mark...i had a bad habit of dropping it to quick and it would cause my shots to be off

Re: How do you aim ?

I go into auto-pilot and try not to think too much because when I think, I shoot bad. That's one reason why I don't "over practice" with my bow because when I'm practicing my arrows are all over because I think too much. But when I hunt, I let my instincts take over and all is good with the shot.

All deer I've taken with my bow, I don't even remember releasing the arrow. I just let it happen.

Re: How do you aim ?

PDR, the pin float and squeeze technique. thats pretty close to number 4 anyways.

i do that most times i hold on spot, concentrate on the spot and then let the shot happen. it seems that my target side takes over when i have to make the shot. most times i dont even remember squeezing the release.

Exactly what I do. I will draw and settle in. The next thing I know the arrow is headed downrange and im reaching for another. I try not to think about it all. Again, thats why there is a perfectly good arrow in my field somewhere. I tried to think about a shot....

Cant say I do Tony....I shoot a "Relax Release" so I dont punch the trigger or even squeeze the shot off.

I aim at a spot...when I'm holding fairly steady(actually floating the pin) on that spot I've trained myself to just slowly relax my finger(which is holding back the trigger) which releases the string loop from the caliper.

I have become so used to this style of release that the shot happens automatically when my brain recognizes that I've floated on the intended target fairly steady for a short length of time.

When I've said to myself "OK"...the shot has left already sometime inbetween the O and the K wink.gif

What I believe I like the most about this style of release is that I dont risk the shot going off early because I've bumped the trigger. I actually can put a heavy amount of pressure on the trigger holding it back and since it does not "Fire" until I let go of it any mental instinct to hurry up and "Punch It" has been completely eliminated cool.gif

Re: How do you aim ?

With Traditional you had no choice to consintrate on a spot and let your form and practice take you threw the shot.

I find with sight pins now I hold my choosen pin on that spot and squeeze the trigger. (Choice #1)

If I punch it I shoot about 3" to 4" left but my elevation is still on.

Not good IMO.

Re: How do you aim ?

I concentrate on the spot and let it happen. That is why I really like the Carter Two Shot release so much. I don't know of any other caliper release on the market (besides other Carter's) that have the super heavy, no travel trigger. You can shoot it with a push/pull style. I've been shooting a lot better with the Two Shot than I used to with a Tru-Fire and Scott.

Re: How do you aim ?

I concentrate on the spot and slowly let it happen. If I punch it it usually goes a bit left.

I have found the best results with telling my mind what to do, and then letting my body do the rest. Seems when I overconcentrate things dont flow as well as I think they should.

Would be much more accurate if I could get the pin to settle down a little bit more though.
