tallone
I know I may be jumping the gun but when I go on my elk trip in November I plan on getting a bull (hopefully) my problem is I don't have a wall big enough to handle a full head mount from the ones I've seen. It would only fit in my living room and the finace has already shot that idea down. How does a european mount look and do you guys think that would be the way to go? Does anybody have any pictures I could see?
M00N
Re: Getting ahead of myself If you go the european route. Might want to try looking into the metalizing of them to see if you like the idea. I think they turn out really nice when you get them metalizied. They have copper, nickel-silver, pewter, bronze, and brass metals they use to do them. I like the pewter and nickel-silver. Nickel-Silver Polished Copper Pewter Brass Bronze
Guest Andrea
Re: Getting ahead of myself I think that if I had shot a trophy bull elk.....I would have it on my livingroom wall.........regardless of anyone else's opinions. You sure you can't change her mind????
gitcha_some
Re: Getting ahead of myself i like the old europeon way...its alot more natural looking than a metalic elk hanging on the way
OJR
Re: Getting ahead of myself I don't like the metalic ones at all. They look phony! A friend on mine had a 6X6 bull done into a European mount and it is great! He also had another 6X6 done with a shoulder mount and built a floor mount for it! He has it sitting in one corner of his livingroom! It looks great! This one he can move around anywhere he wants it.

M00N
Re: Getting ahead of myself Thanks HarvDog I have a head from last year in my freezer waiting on the funds to send it in to be metalized. I still can't decide between the Nickel-Silver and Pewter. Probably will go with Pewter. I think they look really nice mounted on the plaques like that. You should see the ones they did of a Siberian Tiger and Mountain Lion. It makes the skulls a bit stronger to have them metalized that way, too. Less easy to break them, especially if you have children that like to pick your skulls up when they aren't suppose to.
tallone
Re: Getting ahead of myself I'm not sure about the medal but I still would like to see some elk in the european way with just the white bone if anybody has any. tallone
Re: Getting ahead of myself I thought about both but in all fairness she lets me hunt whenever I want, she's a great cook and we get along great, along with her have a great family that I get along with with better than my own, if she doesn't want it in the living room I can deal with it. My next house WILL have a hunting room/office with tall walls until then I will have to "deal" with my situation.
