paul23
I have a quick question I hope someone could answer for me. Is there a difference in speed (fps)between a bow setup with 65% letoff and the same bow setup with 85% letoff?
magnatecsteve
Re: letoff I think it would be different for every make and model of bow. You could get a definate answer by getting a brochure book or look at the manufacturers web site and see the difference in IBO speed ratings. That should tell the difference. paul23
Re: letoff It's a bowtech allegience. So I'm looking at the website and I guess the difference would be shown by looking at the speed mod vs. the smooth mod? Thanks
123 4/8 P&Y
Re: letoff Most bow manufacturers list the 65% cams with higher speeds than 80% cams.

Pinwheel5
Re: letoff Yes, a 65% letoff is faster than an 80% letoff givin the same exact draw length. The power stroke is stronger. Now on the allegiance you can have 65% to 80% with the speed mod or smooth mod. The mods do not determine the letoff, only the power stroke. The speed mod is harsher to draw. If you take a mod on 80% and change the draw stop post to 65% you will be shortning the draw length and the speed gain will be minimal. Just understand that if you are wanting to increase speed get the speed mod and leave it at 80%. It will get you about 8 fps. A bit of warning, if you are thinging of changing the letoff take it to a bowtech dealer. If the draw stop gets out of position to badly you risk locking the bow into 99% let off and the result is ugly. I know, I have seen it happen.
