.....tell me something.

How does ice form above 32 degrees F??? confused.gif

Yesterday morning when I left to go hunting (shortly before 6:00 AM) the temp. was 38.5 degrees. That was also the overnight low. But when I started the Jeep and hit the wipers, each blade pushed a gob of slush.......prolly 1/4 cup each side......down to the bottom of the windshield.

How do that happen????? confused.gif

Nope. Wind chill is an arbitrary quantity. Does not affect this.....even if there was any wind, which there wasn't. Don't know how my windshield coulda been 5.5 degrees colder than the ambient air temp. That defies physics. The 38.5 reading was from a precision thermometer approximately 40 feet from where the vehicle was parked.

Anybody else?? confused.gif

a flock of snow geese flew by and pooped all over your windshield. Since they were snow geese, the poop was very icy cold, and froze and other moisture that hit the windshield.

What do i get?

you must have left your air conditioning switch on from the day before. it was pre-cooling the latiflux, which caused the sno-cone effect on your windshield.

Good theory Steve..........if my A/C hadn't been discharged for like......3 years grin.gif

Re: O.K. scientists.................

That was the overnight low. I'm tellin' ya............I have 2 precision thermometers and a regular big old round one with a deer picture on it. They all collaborate........within a 1-2 degree variance (way less for the 2 electronic ones). The thermo's also jive with my ma-in-law's which is approximately 300 yards away. They are right.

This is freaky!! crazy.gif

Re: O.K. scientists.................

The only thing I can think would be condensation forming on the windshield from the internal air of the vehicle being much warmer than the outside air after you've driven the vehicle.

As far as the Wind Chill being a factor...

The physical basis for the calculation of wind chill is the relationship between the temperature, volume and pressure of a fluid. Moving air reduces air pressure and increases the cooling effect.

Wind Chill Temperature is the accurate terminology that takes into account the above factors.

For example if it was even a 35° day with a wind speed of 5 miles per hour will feel equivalent to a 31° day. That coupled with the possiblity of Condensation would be enough to form Ice.

...or it could be the Aliens previously mentioned grin.gif
