VermontHunter
I'm posting this for Steve Beilgard .... Jeff (my son-in-law) called Friday at noon, and wanted to go fill his elk tag. I ditched work, and in an hour an a half, we were hunting. After an exhausting 15 minutes of glassing, (yea, I got lucky!) I found this boy with his harem, about 2 miles away. The rut is in full swing. We stalked for about 2 hours, and finally got on him for a 5:01 afternoon shot. One 30-06 Hornady in the breadbasket, and he made it about 20 yards. it was Jeff's first elk, and a fine one. I loved the fact that he listened to my shooting instructions in June and shot his rifle all summer long. Then, spent one shot on a fine elk. Took all of yesterday to pack it out, and all of today to rest up. If you'll notice, the terrain is better than my old bones can handle any more. (But no less, LOL) Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure... Let me be the first to CONGRATULATE Jeff and you on a GREAT Elk and hunt..... The pictures are awsome... Thanks for sharing those Steve... and I hope I got everything posted the way you wanted it to be....

stevebeilgard
Re: Big Elk Down (Son-In-Law) not on bishops, dakota. about 20 miles further south, on public hunting land, open to anyone. bishops wanted a bunch of thousands for their elk... booo.. anyway, being a cheap bugger, we went on public land, after everyone else had filled, and found him. and dakota, that's two 6 point bulls down with two shots,,,, yea.
