[ QUOTE ]

Most gun owners would be floored to know that the NRA Executive Vice-President makes $633,823 in salary, plus another $258,343 in benefits in 2004 (Info was obtained from the NRA’s 990 form from 2004.) It is possible that his total compensation package from the NRA for 2005 exceeded $1 million (the 2005 tax reports are not yet available).

[/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't sound out of line to me for someone who is leading an organization with 4.3 million members. That's less than 25 cents per member to pay his salary and benefits.

I am in the NRA. I'm a life member. I'm glad Wayne is there and feel he's worth what he gets.

He is in a position where gun owners can't afford to hire somebody to save money and then lose out politically. Wayne is extremely well skilled in defending gun owners' rights. Imagine some guy who doesn't have his ability running the organization for less money.

1 million dollar has always been a benchmark for successful people. These days million dollar men and women are everywhere. I would say that these days the benchmark for executives is more in the area of 2.5 million or higher...either way I'm not going to get mad at someone for doing well for themselves as long as it's done in a professional way and I would say he is doing that.....

Here's a thought though...I wonder how that gun rack looks in the back of the benz???

Well yeah I would think they would want to spend more of that CONTRIBUTED money toward campaigning and fighting the Antis.

[/ QUOTE ]

They do.They're the ONLY organization that has the political clout to fight for yours and my hunting and shooting rights. That man is most likely NRA 24/7--I'm betting it consumes his and his family's life.I'd say it's $$ well spent.

What "crap" was that?? Please elaborate. confused.gif

Belong or not...............like it or not.............the NRA is the one and only reason any of us have any rights left under the 2nd Ammendment. I don't think I want some feller with his name on his shirt leading the fight to keep my gun rights semi-intact.

To all the gun owners who do not belong to the NRA:

1. Shame on you!! mad.gif

2. PM me (or one of the other card-carrying NRA members) for my address so you may send me a "thank you" card for carrying you. smirk.gif

Re: NRA.........this guys is making it hand over f

This is what the animal folks report.

Animal People News

Ingrid Newkirk reports LESS THAN HALF the salary of her vice president for PETA. Will the IRS PLEASE AUDIT HER!!!

Also PLEASE NOTE they consider the CANCER SOCIETY as an opposing group. Yep that's right they consider cancer research not only less important than animal rights but the face of the enemy. In fact, they are at the top of the list. Know anybody that has cancer who is giving to HSUS or PETA? They are digging their own grave, and taking alot of folks that know better with them.

Honestly I'm fine with Lapierre having a salary that gives him incentive to put up with what he does (I'm sure it's plenty) and fight the good fight. I also don't think he's stuffing the mattress like Newkirk is.

You mean them asking you for donations to fight the anti-gun zealots?

I send them money sometimes, other times I throw the fliers out. It's not hard to do.

That article looked more like anti gun propaganda than anything else. Several times they slipped up and excluded themselves from being gun owners and that makes me sure that this is just more to tarnish the NRA than anything else. Read between the lines folks. It's anti's words and nothing more or less.

Re: NRA.........this guys is making it hand over fist

I'm a card carrying member and I don't really care that he makes that much money. I do get tired of constantly being asked for money. I give when I can to help and I believe in what the NRA is fighting for but I'm not rich and I don't need to be made to feel guilty if I can't give 8 times a year. That is the only part I don't care for.

I really don't see that as out of line at all for his position and what he does. He lives and breaths for the opportunity to fight for our 2nd amendment rights 24/7. He's consumed with it. I sure wouldn't want to do his job.

Think about what other top executives make. Heck there's a lot out there making over $10 million/year including companies loosing money. Think about some of the professional sports players that make $1 mil+. Are they all worth it?

As far as I'm concerned Wayne is worth every $ he gets paid for the services he performs. I'm just glad he's on our side.
