woodsman2230
I walked around this property today looking for sign after I was done with my morning hunt and I found these... There are tons of trees that look like that in there! I didnt scare any deer while i was in there. Should I stay out of there for a while? missouri hunter
Re: When to hunt? That is a hard question. I think the evening(the last hour of hunting) is best for hunting those scrape lines. The first hour is also good. That is all very obvious. If the bucks stay in there during the rut hunting all day is good to catch them running does. I know guys who have shot monsters at one in the afternoon chasing does. But if you are short on when you can hunt, I would stick to afternoons.......

Hoyt03
Re: When to hunt? Your going to have to do some more scouting to find when the deer frequent this area, or maybe hang a trail cam for a few weeks. I would perfer to hunt an area like this in the morning, but for all you know they may travel through at night. Gotta scout, no one on this forum is going to be able to put you on those deer. missouri hunter
Re: When to hunt? I think the trail cams are a great idea. They make some infrared cams that do not flash but still take night shots. Some people think the flash spooks them, so that is an option. But Hoyt is right, no one can put you on those deer, you just have to spend time in your stand. If you did not spook any deer out of there then you should be ok to hunt when you would like. Scent is the other obvious concern, but you can't change what is already in there. I would make sure you pick a good trail to enter and exit your stand so you leave as little human scent in there as possible.
Guest DaveGP
Re: When to hunt? any time can be good, morning or evening, hunt both and see what is mroe productive in your area, all i know is you cant shoot one from the couch. and def during the rut hunt all day, my uncle and dad have shot big bucks in the middle of the day, last year we went walking out at noon and there was a big ten in the field by the car!
