Taking a doe with twin fawns???

I know this question got asked, but I was wondering. Since I had an encounter with a doe and her two fawns I was wondering if you all would take the mother out. Her fawns have all their spots off and are very healthy looking fawns. I think they will be ok for winter, but was just curious about what you might have done. There is one more group of a doe and two fawns in the area. Was wondering if these two fawns would be able to survive with the other family of deer.... I personally think they will be fine.

I wouldn't hesitate to take the doe. Especially if I was shooting her to decrease the local deer population. The fawns will probably be old enough that they don't rely on their mother, except to help them spot predators (like yourself!).

Thats a big reason why, and the other reason is that she's the radar of all deer, picking up everything.

Here now, I would not. Reason being the deer numbers here are down a bit and the fawn rate this past year was considerably lower than normal. Does here from what I have seen are still letting what few fawns I have seen nurse. That said, I am pretty certain I will have an opportunity on one of those does that lost their fawns.

Really depends on your area and your goals.

Good point. Our deer numbers are never very high so I refrain from killing too many does. A few years back we had a big deer kill from blue tongue. The deer numbers have been down the last few seasons. I'm going to wait until they are back up before I shoot any does. Only big bucks for me!
