Buckslayer
Tomorrow I'll be sending payment for my Swamp Ghost cam Swamp Ghost Trail Cams I can't wait to get it, Corey has been awesome at customizing it to my liking. They are a little pricey, but he is saving me a lot of time and he is more experienced at building homebrews than what I could have been in the time it's taken him to build it. It will have a Sony P41 4.1 MP camera in a Pelican 1040 case. There will be two auxiliary battery packs included, and the whole cam is removeable by just unplugging a stereo cable and the auxiliary battery packs! The board is a universal Pixcontroller with the new TrailMode feature!!! It should run for a few months on one 9v battery, and 6 AAs. I'm hoping this cam outlives me, unlike my first cam, a faulty cuddeback 3.0 expert. Included with the cam is a free python cable lock in realtree camo! I'm so excited to get this thing in and set up! Trigger time on this cam is right at 1 second, and then if I have trail mode activated, every subsequent photo will shoot with only 1/10 second trigger time, and until the camera goes 30 seconds without sensing motion! I'll definitely be posting pics whenever I get this thing in! Have a look at his cams - they're clean, tight, professional looking installations. I included the link above. I know I could build one on my own for like half that cost - but I don't have the time to learn how to do it right - let alone the time to actually do it. wtnhunt
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams Good deal. Think my next cam I build will probably be the same combination there or close to it. Going to go with a p41 and probably the universal boards instead of the le this time around. Hopefully if I can find a camera reasonable enough, I should have around $200 in it by the time all is said and done.
Buckslayer
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams wtn, the universal boards are a little more expensive, but I figured it was worth it to get trail mode... The le is still a fine board if you are going to have it on a food source a lot...
wtnhunt
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams Yep, got the leII board in the cam I built with a p32. It is crammed into a 1020 case which is a bit tight. First cam I built works ok, but I made a few mistakes with building it and will use that as better knowledge for the next one. Checked out the link, man his cams are nice, but a bit expensive.
Buckslayer
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams My cam is done, check out what it looks like!! I'm hoping to get it out this coming week sometime!! Corey from Swamp Ghost did a great job wouldn't you all agree?
Buckslayer
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams I don't know why this pic won't get smaller, its supposed to be 640x480... I just changed it in Photobucket... maybe it hasn't updated yet ----- Ok, now its not so enormous!!
wtnhunt
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams Looks good, you should be happy with it. Need to upgrade my homebrew cam to take an external power source, and add an external switch. The rechargeable AA's dont last very long at all. Hoping to build another one soon, think I will get the stuff to upgrade my cam when I do. So how much did he charge you for that one? Bond
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams How long are they lasting wtnhunt? They should take at least 300 pictures. My rechargeables take about 500 in the warmer months. Make sure you keep the lcd screen off and pic review off.
Buckslayer
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams It was $480 which includes what you see plus a 256MB card and a Realtree camo Python lock, which like you said before is a lot of money for some folks... and I agree, but I just figured that for the cost of the cuddeback that messed up on me, it was only $150 more. Corey saved me the time I didn't have to learn how to build one, order parts, do research - buy random tools, etc. Plus, his experience built an awesome cam... whereas my lack of experience may have led to, how should I say this... screw ups... and subsequent frustration and monetary loss!! lol
wtnhunt
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams About a week Bond, and nowhere near that many pics. They are the energizer 2500 mah nimh batteries, should be just as good as the sony batteries. The flash is on high and flashes night and day. I need to recheck my settings when I check the cam next time, might also turn the flash down to medium.
Guest Basinboy
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams You should get at least 300 pics. Is it a P32? I had a fellow get 600 with one using Duracell Rechargables. Sounds like you have it set to forced flash. Check all your settings.

Got the camera, a p32, set as per the pixcontroller sites suggestions for fastest possible triggers. The cam is set to program, and the only option on the flash is to have it set at high, medium, or low, I have not found any option for auto flash in the program mode. It flashes day and night everytime. Also no control I could find in the menus to shut off the viewer screen or review after it triggers, other than turning the camera to power saver on. Buckslayer
Re: Swamp Ghost Trail Cams Thanks dough! Basin... welcome! WTN... There has to be an option for auto flash if you're in program mode... thats like the most common thing for digicams to do since sliced bread... lol

Took a while on dialup, but think I see what I was doing wrong, and it is currently most certainly set to forced flash. Was looking to set the flash through the menus. I guess you have to use the up arrow to set the flash settings in camera mode without being in any menus. Might still give you a call if this doesnt work. When is a good time, and should I pull the cam and have it in front of me before I call?
