coles
im planning on buying a new honda and i dont know what model to buy. i want it to be at least a 400 or 450. i really like the rubicon cuz it looks like its made for more abuse and such. the rincon has too much plastic and the racks dont look to sturdy. i plan on using it mostly for carrying decoys out to the field and for other hunting activities. so let me know what you guys think. thanks
unioncountyslayer
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler Don't know what size a fella you are, but I have the new Rancher AT. It's a 400cc with Automatic trans. and Electric shift option. Plenty of power, as I use it for play/work/hunting. About a grand less than the Rubi as well. Good luck! Bond
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler We have one 300 fourtrax and 3 450 foremans. I swear they're indestructable. All 4 of them have been rolled(Various reasons, don't ask, no lecture needed, that's not the point) at least once and every time they either stayed running or fired right back up with no damage. I agree with you on the rincon and its plastic racks - I don't know why they did that. If I were to get another 4 wheeler, it would be the rancher, just because it's nice and simple and I don't really need 450cc. I think whatever you pick, as long as it's a Honda, you'll be happy with it.

jbeck
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler 450 forman here, I will say my brother in-law has the Rubicon 500 with the auto and electronic shift and has had lots of problems with his computer and the auto shift. I don't think this is a problem with all of them but I wouldn't get this unit for that reason. I like the elec. shift, but would avoid the auto unit until this is all cleared up. Good luck. preacherman
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler I have the 500 Foreman and it is without a doubt, the best 4 wheeler I have ever owned. I have had no trouble out of it and it will indeed take you where you want to go.
coles
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler yeah i dont want the push button shift. i have never ridden one but that like ya'll said is something that seems like it could fail pretty easy. Guest IL_HuNtIn_KiD
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler no..its not the push button shift that fails...its the actuall automatic electronic shift that fails on them
Guest hunter101
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler i have a 2002 fourtrax 350es and i love, plenty of speed, power for hawling wood and pulling deer out. ya i would stay away from the automatic tramissions my popa has one and nothing but problems with the computers and such but as far as the electric shift goes never had a lick of problems with it. i love it for mudding just get on the seat and push a button
RackBlaster
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler I have a 2004 Rancher AT 400 and it has done everything i thru at it. I use it for discing, spraying, plowing snow, hauling, hunting, and just hitting the trails. I have been in over a foot of water in the swamps and never got stuck. Drove it thru 2 feet of snow without a problem , in fact i have more fun with it in the snow than in the mud. Worth every penny!
Guest ruffhunter
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler Do you really want 1988 technology?? No suspension or ground clearance. Yes they make good engines and solid machines. Our neighboring camp has ranchers/rrubicon 500. roughest riding machines ever. The rubicon 500 steers really hard and the solid axles jar the cramp out of ya. Their rincon 650 would be a good machine, but the tranny is the worst and not recommend by any dealer for basic hauling. go out ride different trannys and suspensions over the terrian you'll be using and I am sure you'll notice a huge difference. Shaun_300
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler One of my friends has a new Rubicon 500. It's a very strong and nice riding machine. Great on gas too. He even made a snow plow for it.
otdrzmn04
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler ive got the rancher manual shift and love it. the bigger quads are too big to manuever in tight places in the woods and the rancher has plenty of power for work or play
Guest Finn
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler Ruff, can't agree with you, sir. My Dad and uncle have Rubicons and they couldn't be more comfortable to ride. Never seem to break down, either.
bowhtr1
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler All of there atv's are bullet proof. I would go with the 500 forman. It has the 2wd/4wd switch. You can have alot of fun in 2wd. The rancher does not have that option. It is worth it. I have a 450 es and added a lockout for the front wheels. This thing is a blast to ride. PS My wife thinks my 450 rides ruff but what does she know. I think it rides great. Its not suppose to be like a Lexus.

Guest Rackrus
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler Have two Honda Ranchers, one is four years old, and one is new, with no problems with electric shifting. Very nice rides!
Elk_Hunter
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler I had two Honda foreman 400's and they were pieces of crap. Every time id get to the middle of no were the transmissions would screw up and id have to towed back to camp , between the two of them i went through five tranys in two years. so if i were you id save your money and buy a better machine

bowhtr1
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler Then I stand corrected on the AT and the switch. The normal rancher does not have it. My sister and cousin have one. I have heared the AT has some power problems in the mud. They may have corrected that also.
Guest flatwoodhunter
Re: Best Honda 4-wheeler the 500 foreman is the best hunting machine out there right now. i have a rincon and it lacks a low end power, but i use my bike for way more than just hunting. go with the foreman, you won't be disappointed.
