Re: Gut pile cam set up!

Hunting near a gut pile has never bothered me. I have witnessed the same type of thing first hand. Deer are "NOT" spooked by gut piles, in fact, if you want to set up a good next days hunt and it's not raining, (after shooting a deer),...drag your downed deer from where it drops, right past where you are going to hunt that evening or the next day , gutted or ungutted.

The scent left on the ground after the drag works great to attract deer.

Use all that great scent on your downed deer to your advantage for that evening or the next days hunt, if you still have a tag open. You just never know what may come in to investigate.

I heard of guys dragging their downed deer great distances to get the gut pile away from their hunting spot and there is really no need for it. I don't like the idea of gutting the deer right under my stand either, but you don't have to take it so far away either. It's the scent on the deer's hide that attracts curiosity, not so much the guts.

Just look at that downed deer as one humungous, drag rag ...LOL...and use it wink.gif

Re: Gut pile cam set up!

I know deer are very curious animals. But I really would have expected the deer to be more wary, guess not! But I often wondered about deer and a nearby gut pile! Not anymore!

BTW, why was this thread moved? Since it was about deer hunting!!! Thats why I placed it in the Deer Hunting forum!
