Dumb birds........

Not. grin.gif

I was up a tree tonite looking for a monster buck. My stand is placed 15 yards inside the woods off a powerline. I'm 22 feet to the platform of my chain-on. It's 33 yards to the far side of the powerline. About 6:30 I heard crunching in the leaves across the powerline. Out of the underbrush steps a turkey hen.......one step. She immediately starts clucking and looking at me while she's turning to go back in. shocked.gif I was seated and motionless. I did not have a facemask on. But I've got half my face in a beard.

Incredible how sharp them turkeys eyes are. She had an awful lot of woods to scan when she stepped out and she picked me in under 5 seconds.

Re: Dumb birds........

Ever notice though sometimes they can be stupid? I was hunting the other night...my buddy in a 20' ladder and I was in a lock on about 3' higher and off to the side in the same tree. We are set up at the edge of the field with very little cover directly in front. We were a little early and a few hens came out in the field. With out a head net and gloves...I kee kee and yelped with just my mouth. One big ole hen came within 25 yards of the stand and never spooked?
