I really owe this harvest to Dave and GW. These guys I just met, well, Gary I have and Dave I have yet to.

GW helped me out with some Renzo Decoys and Dave, who I have yet to meet as I said sent me some ADKHunter Reflective Wraps, oh and gave me instructions to a "secret vly" to hunt in the Adirondacks. Great directions they were, I think I was in the right spot. LOL

About 4 pm I set up a bedded Renzo doe, a feeding doe (I placed her drinking) and a mature buck decoy.

I placed the does close and the buck at 23 yards upwind. BTW: I was 10 yds from a beaver dam that was at my back and I was on the ground.

I started grunting about 15 minutes after setup. I'd grunt for a bit and then relax for about 15 minutes.

Well, at 6:18pm I heard one coming from the hillside through the leaves and it was coming fast.

The deer approached my buck from about 40 yds out without hesitation.

At the 30 yd mark I let it have my first Muzzy Moment and like text book piled up within sight. Just 20 yds away from POI.

Pics to follow later. I hope!!!

Thanks guys for helping me to score and have my first

MUZZY MOMENT in the Adirondacks. smile.gif

Re: I tagged one this evening!!

Congrats Harry!!!

Email me those Pic's ASAP when you find that USB cable for your camera...I'd be honored to host them on my Photobucket account cool.gif

I had two encounters tonight but had to pass on the shots. The best shot I had was @ 30yds slightly quatering away. A nice mature Doe stopped perfectly in an opening. I could see the deer clearly but there were limbs between me and her that looked like they were resting on her back. Problem was that they were only about 10yds away from me up in the tree. I know how my arrows fly enough from practicing that the trajectory of it at that range would have sent it right through the branches then off into who knows where.

I feel good about my decision because I dont take that kind of shot...it was not a for sure thing and there will be other days wink.gif

Though after reading your post and having talked to Dave on the phone around 8 PM tonight I'm feeling somewhat left out tongue.gif

Dave scored tonight while hunting a friends property that was about 25 minutes from where you were dragging your deer cool.gif

He had a feeding doe near the edge of a corn field that could be seen from a creek bed that his deer was walking along. Perfect setup...deer saw the decoy and stopped about 15 yds from the base of his tree looking away. Just as the deer turned to head towards the cornfield he timed it perfectly and sent a Thunderhead through the pump station cool.gif

Re: I tagged one this evening!!

Bad news guys. One of my many many children, JK,

deleted all and I mean all our photo's on our computer.

I had everything backed up except the pics from when we moved here to NY. URGH!!!!

Anyway.

Pics will come but in the form of it hanging.

Gotta love children!

Gary, somehow I pictured Dave as a lot bigger. Well, at least I know what to expect in a couple of weeks when we all get together to hunt Bone Island.

Tony, congrats on the doe. Three lucky guys in one evening, almost 4. What is that telling you about the moon and deer movement? blush.gif
