well this is my first year of bow hunting im 16 yrs old and i was out in my stand for the first time yesterday..i sat there about 3 hours and a doe came out of the woods about 7 yrds in front of me, i shot and shot low, well today i shot my bow and found out it was my sights, so i spent half the day resighting my bow, at about 4 pm i went to the same stand and sat until 7 when another doe came out about 15 yrds in front of me, i shot and she stumbled but i didnt find any blood or any arrow...so i dont know if thats good or what but i know i am addicted to bow huntin

sometimes they might not start bleeding till they run a bit, remember the last place you saw the deer, what trail it was on, and walk the trail... if it was a hit, that may help you get on the blood trail. Everyone has misses though, you learn from them.. "If it was that easy we'd all be pros."

Very Good Point. 80% of the time, when a deer is hit with an arrow (even a pass-through shot), they will not leave a blood trail until 20 or 30 yrds from the impact site. I very rarely find blood right at the spot I hit the deer.

That one of the reasons to pay attention to that spot you last saw the deer run and do a thorough check for blood there.

If you got a pass=through shot, the arrow is most likely tucked in hidden under the grass. Happens all the time.

I hope yuo find both your arrow and the deer in the morning.

Re: 2 misses in 2 days...

Frustrating isn't it? In-season practicing is a good thing and will tip you off when form or equipment is not up to par. I have actually skipped hunting days when I didn't think my shooting was up to par, and didn't go out until whatever the problem was was fixed.

Of course, there is also the element of excitement that can mess with your shooting too. Yes, you can get "buck fever" with does too.

There are no guarantees. That's why we are not out there with a gun. When they say bowhunting is challenging.........they're right!

Re: 2 misses in 2 days...

wellmy friends and me looked all over and never found my arrow, blood or the deer, we have looked 2 days now, so i think i gut shoted her which i hate, im a big fan of clean kills, but i been shooting alot here lately and will probably put my bow down til i get to where i feel i can connect to keep another accident like that from happening, but i dunno, i really like the rush when deer come that close to you, but knowing me i will be back out there next weekend when it hits the lower 40's again haha
