Exturkinator
Re: Bummed out... I lost a squorrel two weeks ago - looked for 20 minutes, I know it was dead cause I popped him good and he fell out of a huge oak about 50 feet and made a nice thud, I had the tree pinpointed and everything but just couldn't find him. Suppose sometimes they're not wounded fatally and get back up a tree - I saw that about a month ago... Talked to guys Saturday during waterfowl opener who told me they shot a Canada goose and a mallard drake within about 20 yards and couldn't find them!!!! I'm with you - I actually get pretty upset when it happens... Extremely poor sportsmanship and poor respect for hunting when a hunter doesn't do his/her best to find game, but at the same time if you do your absolute best to find em but can't you've upheld your responsibilities (and the law in our state at least).. imo.. Turkeygirl
Re: Bummed out... I have shot squirrels and if they are wounded but not dead, they will crawl under a log or branch. A couple weeks ago, shot at one with a .22, it fell right out of the tree. It got up though and ran off amazingly...I thought for sure I had it.
