Guest bigbuckmiddaugh
One thing i notice on the 777 pellets, they crush easy. You might be crushing the pellet, which would make it foul really quick. If you think you might be doing that, try slowly putting sabot down until seated, just enough pressure to seat it. I marked my rod, after i did that, lol. If that isn't problem, maybe try a different bullet, like a powerbelt. The powerbelt has less plastic and will be easier to load. good luck
tedicast
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem I have an Encore, and I shoot 777. I am shooting 100 grain of pellets, and 295 powerbelts. i swab with windex in between shots, and I don't have any problems. I think swabbing between shots give you the most consistent barrel fouling conditions.
lil hunter
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem With the fouling, I'd recommend putting a spit patch, followed by a dry patch down your barrel after each shot. Thats what I always do, and I never have had any fouling problems. Also, the SST's seemed to be pretty tough for me to load no matter what. I'm comparing that to the hornady XTP MAG. Both 300 grain. So you may try a different bullet also.

I have gotten my cleaning jag stuck. and had to remove the breechplug. I use a fairly wet patch, with windex, and use short strokes when iI hit the crud ring, until I break through it. I then use 2 dry patches. It seems like a lot of work, but it really takes little time. My gun is a tackdriver this way, and I never have trouble loading. AJ
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem One easy fix is to get rid of T7. Pyrodex does not have the same problem.
Guest bigbuckmiddaugh
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem I agree with AJ, try pyro. Your wife might complain that you stink, lmao
silentgate
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem Ditto with the Pyrodex! I found it a lot easier to reload. But...I,m also using Shockwaves which in itself is another reloading disaster!
sasksheds
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem I have the same prob & might just go back to the pyrodex next year. How much should I use if i'm using 100gr of 777?My TC quick loaders just hold 100 gr of 777.Any suggestions on quick loaders? too_pointer
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem drewa5, welcome to the forums first off Good suggestions in here on your problem. If you haven't already, make sure you do put a mark or line on your ramrod, so you know for sure everything is seated correctly. Like AJ stated, maybe changing to pyrodex will correct your problem. Good luck with it. too_pointer
too_pointer
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem Hi guy. Where in Mi. ? I remember many posts on the crud ring buildup. TC had changed their breech plug design, and it appears that was a major contributor to the crud ring. I have the original breech plug in my Encore, and haven't had any problems. I really don't remember anything about the factory replacing the plugs. Please let us know what they tell you. too_pointer
str8shooter48
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem Try American Pioneer Powder. Works fine for me. I know a lot of people here don't like it but, I wasn't happy with the hassles associated with 777 either. With APP no crud ring, no swabbing between shots and easy cleanup. AaronS
Re: T/C Encore 50 cal fouling problem sasksheds, I've come full circle this year. For the last 7 or 8 years I've hunted with a Knight MK85 shooting 100 grains of pyrodex, hornady 245 gr. hollow points, and #11 caps. This year I wanted to try something new and converted it to a 209 primer, went to 250 gr. Shockwaves and 100 gr. of 777 pellets. The 209 primers are a major hassle to load on this old gun when you're in a hurry so midseason I switched back to #11's. After pulling the trigger on a doe last weekend and only having the cap go off and not the powder, I also went back to granular pyrodex. I'm going to stick with the Shockwaves for now and see how they perform. Long story short.....I shot 100 gr. of loose Pyrodex Select last night and it put the bullet in the same place as 100 gr. of 777.
