VTbowman
I have read tons and tons of ways to use deer based scents. Even try it on occasion myself with mixed results. I was wondering if anyone using any other types of scent other then deer based scent. Like apple, vanilla, etc..??? Here is my situation. Put my trail cam up on a well used deer trail that happens to go right by a scrub apple tree about 2 weeks before our opener. When the tree had fruit they were pounding the trail. 113 pics in 3 days of use. Now hardly anything. Naturally the apples are gone and VT has a no baiting law so I can not replentish the supply. LOL The trail still gets use but its sparatic at best and mostly at night according to the trail camera. I was thinking of putting out an apple scent bomb and leaving it there for a few days to see if it brings anything by my stand like when it had fruit. Or should I put it out only when I hunt. I have tried vanilla a few dozen times but have had zero success with it. I figured apple would work better since there are apple trees around... BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Any experience/success with fruit based scents? We used the apple ones early in the season ... but later we dont ... I dont think they work as well late in the season. Steve
Stinger-Hunter
Re: Any experience/success with fruit based scents? I wouldn't put it out more than a few hours before hunting. If they go there and there are no apples, they won't bother coming back.
