Talladega: TRASHY

Well, my sons just got back yesterday from the race. Instead of hearing stories of how great the race was.............all I heard was how horrible the people were and how soaked they got from all the beer flying around. mad.gif

Apparently at the end of the race there were a lot of miffed spectators who were ticked off cause their driver didn't win. So what did they do???????? They started chunking beer bottles.

My children were caught in the middle of all this b.s.

My son even said "Mom, there were people walking around with blood running down the sides of their faces from the glass".

You know.................it's pretty sad when you can't even let your children enjoy a NASCAR race because of all the trashy people who attend. The cursing and the alcohol was appalling.

Needless to say.................they will NEVER go back.

They were NOT impressed at all. mad.gif

Man, that stinks. frown.gif

I guess I lucked out up in Richmond. It was a good time. The guys next to me drank beer the whole time, but they were having fun and never made me uncomfortable with my boy being there.

Sorry to hear that.

Re: Talladega: TRASHY

It is sad that people have to act that way, and I'd be willing to bet that it was Jr fans at that. Sad thing here is to that this kind of actions are what society is coming to. When I went to Talladega last year, the people I went with are BIG Jr fans, as I am, but when Grodo won, the girl started BAWLING, saying anyone but Gordon.........Really changed my opinion of wanting to go to another race

Re: Talladega: TRASHY

That's why you'll never see me at Talladega. Not all races are like that Andrea, trust me. My buddy at work told me that on Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain Sunday night, all it was was Jr. fans calling up saying Vickers and HMS should be banned from the sport, and that everyone should move out of the way for Junior. Junior is not the end-all, be-all of NASCAR, its just sad that too mnay people live and breath on what happens to him on Sunday.

Re: Talladega: TRASHY

They WERE Jr. fans. My son was afraid to root for his driver because he was surrounded by Jr. fans. He said "those people wre drunk and mean".

Glad my husband did not go. I'd be bailing him out of jail............ crazy.giffrown.gif

Re: Talladega: TRASHY

My in-laws go to all the races. I asked them if it was just as bad at Daytona and they said yeah, except not as bad with the alcohol. The swearing and rudeness is just as bad though.

I'm sorry, but I can't be around people like that!

Glad the NFL isn't like that.

We had such a good time at the Jags game. None of the people were rude. They weren't cussing up a storm. They weren't slinging their drinks at others. My kids had a ball.

Another place I won't take my kids...........college football games. If the seats are in the student section....you can forget it. mad.gif

Re: Talladega: TRASHY

Fans and lots of beer don't mix especially when Jr. is taken out. Sorry your kids had to experience it. What I would do, write the Talledega Speedway and tell them your experience, who knows you might get free tickets to a future race.

If you sit and complain on here they won't take notice and action, if you contact them or even NASCAR at least they will be aware of what ruined their experience.

Please write them an email, you will be surprised that they do take notice!

I might just do that. But I hope they don't send us tickets cause there's no way I would sit thru that. smirk.gif

Write them, tell them what they saw and the impact it had on them. NASCAR is suppose to be a family sport. Maybe they will beef up security, maybe they will do nothing. I think if they hear you they will get back with you and at least offer their apologies.

I am having a hard time locating an email address for Talladega Superspeedway or NASCAR. confused.gif

Re: Talladega: TRASHY

It is true that Jr has quite a large fan base at 'dega. I mean they don't call it Dale'edega for nothing. However, I take a little offense at ALL of the Jr. fans being lumped into the beer drinking, bottle chunking crowd. I was at Talledega this spring when Jr. got spun by Carl Edwards. Neither me nor my wife cussed, threw a beer bottle, or berated a Carl Edwards fan sitting near us. It is safe to say that when you get 150,000 people in one place there will be several bad apples in the bunch but please don't group all of the Jr. fans into that.

Andrea, I hope that the speedway replies to you if nothing else maybe they will eliminate coolers or glass bottles from the grandstands. I renewed my spring race seats and I will be back next year with bells on.

I only said that the group surrounding my kids were Jr. fans. I know that not all people are like that. My in-laws certainly are not and they go all the time.

If NASCAR replies I will be surprised. But, you never know.............

The least they can do is employ some sort of security or law enforcement like other venues do. And eject those idiots that wanna fight and throw their booze.
