snapper
I'm looking at getting a digital game cam. I want one that accepts SD memory cards. I only know of two (let me know if there are any others). The Moultrie cams and the Wildview cams. Basspro has a Wildview 2.0 megapixel camera for $109. Just wondering if anyone has one of these or at least the Wildview brand camera? Whats your thoughts...good and/or bad. Thanks!

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Pros and cons... I bought a couple of the VGA Wildviews last year. Picture quality is so-so and trigger time is a bit slow for a trail, but fine for a foodplot or mineral site. Super easy to use and to set up. Needs to be mounted about 15 - 20 feet from your target area for best results. Bought a Moultrie Gamespy 200 this year. Better picture quality and faster trigger, but a pain to set up. It's also a battery hog if you take a lot of pics with the flash. Can be mounted farther from your target area than the Wildview. No equipment failures with either type unit. Tsmola
Re: Pros and cons... I got a Moultrie Gamespy 200 and promptly returned it after a week. Animals have to trip the camera twice for their picture to be taken, needless to say in that week I got a grand total of 0 photos and I even watched deer in the field where I had it walk right by. From what I hear, Moultrie is only good if you are putting it on bait or a feeder. Since that's not what I wanted at all I returned it and got a Leaf River IR. Rhino
Re: Pros and cons... A friend of mine has a Moultrie and from the experience we had with his, I wouldn't own one at all. He bought it for the same reason you mentioned (takes SD card). We got only 1 picture in 3 setups with his Moultree. Where he got the 1 pic, I got 44 pics the following week hanging my cuddeback on the same tree where his Moultree was set up. Can't say anything about the other trail cam. Just my opinion, with the $ you spend on a trail cam I suggest that you don't limit yourself based on what kind of memory card it takes. I know I can get CF cards pretty cheap at Comp USA here. They're close to 1/3 or less than the price at Walmart. I bought some 512 GB CF cards on sale there this summer for under $16/card.
snapper
Re: Pros and cons... Thanks for the input. I already have 3 SD cards...thats why I was leaning that way. Didn't really want to get into too much money. I orginally bought a cheap Stealth cam and had good success with it in the past few years. Just sorta tired of developing pictures with nothing or part of an animal in it. I may look into the Bushnells...but for $109 I may lean towards the Wildview for the ease of use? Guest brl
Re: Pros and cons... i have a moultrie gamespy 200 and i really like it i have had better luck with it using it over a plot than on trails. only bad thing about it is it really likes batterys
nemodeerhuntersneighbor
Re: Pros and cons... Stealth Cam 2.0 STC-WD2 takes SD cards. They are great cameras with lots of features and a great trigger. Also have great battery life. Comparable to Cuddeback. However the pictures have flash washout. Overall they are a great buy. You can get them for 140 w/out Viewer or $175 w/Viewer on Ebay Brand New. I bought 2 of them off of there.
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Pros and cons... All my pics I have been posting all summer are from my Wildview Xtreme II. Pic quality IMO is fine. The trigger can be slow I have found out, it just really depends on the battery life.
