WABS
Posted this over in the Muzzle Loader area but received "NO" responses. Anyone else out there own one of these made by Traditions? Still waiting for mine to show up but I was just wondering if anyone had experience with one.
hangunnr
Re: Buckhunter Pro Pistol I was considering one but wanted to be able to handle one before diving in. I ended up going with the Encore ML pistol barrel which has turned out to be a fine shooter. Please be sure to let us know how it performs. hangunnr
WABS
Re: Buckhunter Pro Pistol I'll let you know. I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I'm hoping to carry it into the field with me along with my ML rifle when I hunt the MN ML season the end of November. I'll keep you posted. WABS
Re: Buckhunter Pro Pistol Went out and shot it this past weekend and just had a blast. First of all I couldn't get it to even hit paper at 25 yards, but after messing with it a bit I was successful in zeroing in on the bull. Couple of problems and questions for you experts. One is can you shoot pyrodex pellets out of a pistol? The other problem I have is that the rear sight really isn't very good and so I'm looking to put a truglo sight on it. I've sent an email to TruGlo and to Traditions to see if that is possible. Right now I can't adjust the rear sight to where I need it, so I'm using Kentucky windage in order to put lead on target. I'm holding about a foot low and about a 1/2 foot right at 25 yards. Was pretty consistent with putting the bullets in the bull, but couldn't get a real tight group doing that. I was shooting a .50 cal round ball pushed by 50 grains of pyrodex. I really had a good time with it though and can't wait to get back out there. Hopefully with a new rear sight. hangunnr
Re: Buckhunter Pro Pistol You should be able to light Pyrodex pellets with the #11 caps your pistol uses but I feel you will be much better off with loose Pyrodex RS or P. I don't know if 777 will give consistant ignition using the #11 caps. Does Traditions offer a scope mount for your gun? A nice low powered scope would be sweet for close range gunning. hangunnr
WABS
Re: Buckhunter Pro Pistol That would be nice, but I plan to use it during the MN muzzle loader season and they don't allow scopes of any kind unless you have a special permit and then I believe it has to have no magnification. So I'm pretty much stuck with open sights. Waiting to hear back from Traditions or TruGlo.
WABS
Re: Buckhunter Pro Pistol Next time out I'll put the chronograph on it and see how fast I'm pushing that ball.
