LifeNRA
After hunting this piece of land for a little over 18 years. My father and I need to look for other land to hunt on! We both are very upset for what is happening. The land we hunt is bordering military land. It is way up on the mountain, but the problem is this. The military seems to need a brand new rifle range for there striker force. Now we know why they want to do a swap for the State Game Land on the other side of the mountain. To create a larger buffer zone for this new striker force. Once they have this built, they will ask again to have this land swap! They are making it easy for them to win this swap. But you also need to understand, this land they want has been aways used by hunters for a VERY long time! Dont get me wrong! I am all for the military getting the best trainning there is!!! But to have this on the edge of their property is really crazy! Tonite we were out, he was in his blind and I was up in my tree. All of a sudden this heavy piece of equipment comes up the mountain and is tearing and cutting 30" trees out of the ground. So our night was out the window. Excuse me for ranting, but I am really bummed right now. Well, not really bummed, extremely mad! This was the best place for my father to go because he didnt need to walk far to get deep into the woods! Still wondering why they need a range right on the border, when they have all that land farther inside. Then they will need a larger buffer zone afterwards! Which will mean the land swap! The land we hunt on is only 125 acers, thats not a lot! But we do have state game land on the northern side. I can drive my father up there but its a real pain. You take a chance of wreaking your truck every trip! But hey, I did shoot a six pointer today, first bow kill!
