Land Prices in Sask?

Re: Land Prices in Sask?

You have to take up residance here to own land as far as I know-it is cheap compared to pretty much anywhere in North America. It's illegal to sell hunting access on private land here so that's why it's the last best place to be a whitetail hunter. There's literally thousands of acres to hunt.

My grnadpa sold a 1/2 section a few years back for close to 100 grand a quarter,it has dropped quite a bit now, I would say average quarter would go for 40-50, better farmland more poor hilly less!they say it is droppign every year, wonder why with 2 doller a bushell wheat lol!!

I'd love to buy land up there, but can see why you guys don't want it opened to folks from the US.

If it were, nice guys like me couldn't afford it and you'd have the same problem with outfitters like we're getting down here.

THANK GOD that a U.S resident cannot hunt without the services of an outfitter. I hope in my lifetime it does not change b/c the whole darn country would be bough up.

I know a lot of American guys on here that I'd like to take bear or blacktail hunting, but can't because of the outfitter laws. I guess it is a good thing in one way and a pain in the butt in another way.

I'm glad the land can't be sold to just anyone(without being a resident) either, because you'd see the whole country bought up by the rich foreigners, and then who knows what they'd do with it.

I can see it now..Canada 80% Arab owned!!!

A little note for you Sask. boys from an Alberta boy....how do you explain big ranchers from Alberta buying large blocks of land and still living here? I know 2 that have done it within the last 2 years. Maybe they have the land deeded to a Number Company, and make the hired hand that lives there a shareholder? I don't know for sure, but that's the only loophole I can see in getting around it.

Re: Land Prices in Sask?

LOL@ superguide lol!! there has been 2 ranches bought here in the past couple years by guys from alberta, the ownign land does not allow you to hunt here you either need a hospitilizion number or a RCMP or army number to get a licence, the reason the guys bought the land here is becouse they soldfor a fortune in alberta near the big cities and bought here for cheap, buy way more land and still have a nice nestegg to lay back on!

Re: Land Prices in Sask?

We have a 1/2 section near the provincial forest boundry with lots of deer, a elk herd that passes thru, moose and bear from time to time. It's valued at around the 50 for the whole thing because alot of it isn't farmed. Mostly hayland and trees. Land that is good for hunting is alot cheaper than the field directly across that is completely cleared and valued a 3 times as much.
