VTbowman
I bought a used G5 Optix LE sight a month or so ago when I switched back to compounds. I love the sight design and features and it seemed very bright even in fading light. In my backyard. LOL Well on a hunt last Saturday evening I was set up in my pop up overlooking my small food plot. About 35 minutes left for legal light I noticed I could not see my pins. Well, I could barely, but not well enough for a clean shot and definately not if the light faded more. I was upset to say the least. These sights come drilled and tapped for an addition light they sell. But MAN they are proud of it. $27+ for a tiny LED light but hey I NEED it right. LOL I get home and screw this in, turn it on, and was seriously disappointed to see only 2 of the 5 fibers lit up. My 50 and 67 yard pins. D-OH! I look closer to see that 3 of the fibers were to short or broken inside the sights housing. The light screws into a hole at the top of the sight housing and the fiber are run into this enclosing to the light to not spook or alert game I assume. Well I took the sight apart to swap the fibers around so I could at least have a 20 and 30 pin light up when needed. I was scared I to since I assumed it would ruin the sight in of each pin and we were forecasted rain/wind for the next few days. The beauty of this sight is the way the pins are designed. I had all of them off and the sight completely apart, (less the bracket off the bow), and when put back together they were all dead nuts still sighted in! Anyways... I write an email to G5 the next morning to ask where I can purchase these fibers and immediately, like 5 mintues later, I get an email back asking for my address. Christine said they were very upset this happened to me and were sending out a new set of fibers for my sight that same day. I was very impressed with the way she handled all this and we bounced quite a few emails back and forth that morning. I explained I was also using the Tekan broadheads and they want pictures of ANY deer I shoot with them. I told her it mostly likely would be a doe since we are trying to balance the herd up here and she insisted I still send pics of it. Great company IMO. Jus wanted to share. superguide
Re: Another G5 service testimonial. I heard a good story about the Montec G5 head-a guy shot a bull moose up here and was kind of worked up that he never got a pass through. When they were gutting the very DEAD bull they found the arrow had went through the back of the shoulder blade-through a rib-then went lengthwise almost through the moose and was coming out just in front of the backleg on the far side. The head was good as new-they are an awesome arrowhead for sure.
